Parent Experience

Community, involvement and what it's like to be a parent at this school

History

German-language schooling began in Peru between 1871 and 1889. Deutsche Schule Lima Alexander von Humboldt was established in 1910 and operated until 1942, when it closed during World War II and reopened in 1952. A second phase from 1952 to 1957 followed, and from 1958 to 1968 the institution was known as Colegio Peruano Alemán Alexander von Humboldt. Major educational reforms occurred from 1970 to 1998, and from 1999 to 2025 Huampaní and a new millennium expansion shaped the school. Humboldt I is in Miraflores and Humboldt II is in Surco, with a recreation center in Huampaní.

Community

Two campuses serve the community: Humboldt I in Miraflores and Humboldt II in Santiago de Surco, with the Centro recreativo Huampaní. Community life includes a Grupo Scout, an Intercambio Estudiantil (student exchange) program, and an Academia de Natación (swimming academy). Proyectos Sociales (social projects) involve students and families, and a Bolsa de Servicios de Padres de Familia (Parents' Service Exchange) invites family involvement; there is also an Extranet for Padres.

Parent-Teacher Association

The school hosts a Bolsa de Servicios de Padres de Familia (Parents' Service Exchange) for parent involvement, with registration via apafa@colegio-humboldt.edu.pe. An Extranet Padres provides a dedicated portal for parents.

Upper secondary leads to the Deutsches Internationales Abitur (DIA) under the DIAP framework, with DSD I/II exams; Spanish remains core through Abitur, English and French are offered as additional languages. Extracurriculars include ADCA Música, German-Peruvian exchange, Die Pfadfinder.
