Facilities Overview

AKIS is located in Al Khor Community, Doha, Qatar, about 40 kilometres north of Doha. It is owned by QatarEnergy LNG. AKIS serves over 4,000 students across four buildings and is staffed by more than 500 academic staff supported by over 50 administrative staff. It offers British Curriculum (BC), Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), and components of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education Curriculum (Arabic Language, Qatar History and Islamic Studies). Model United Nations (MUN) and the Duke of Edinburgh International Award (IA) are core features of AKIS's leadership programme.

Sports Facilities

AKIS sporting facilities include a running track, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, two grass football pitches, sports halls and a climbing wall.

Academic Facilities

AKIS has a dedicated Learning Support department with qualified staff offering personalised support for identified SEN. An English as an Additional Language (EAL) program supports students developing English language proficiency. Five student libraries and one teacher resource room support learning; libraries are open from 7am–3pm and the teacher resource room from 6.30am–2.30pm; a Virtual Library is available on the school network.

Extra-Curricular Activities

AKIS offers a broad Extra Curricular Activities (ECA) programme focused on Academics, Sport and Culture. Sport ECAs use the running track, pools, grass pitches, sports halls and climbing wall; cultural ECAs include drama, debating, choir and orchestra.

Al Khor International School (AKIS) is a large, co-educational all-through school in Al Khor Community, about 40 kilometres north of Doha. It serves more than 4,000 students aged 3–18 and delivers the British Curriculum with iGCSE and AS/A Level pathways in English. The curriculum is adapted to MoEHE requirements for Arabic Language, Islamic Studies and Qatar History, and includes licensed CBSE components. AKIS is licensed by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education and accredited by COBIS, BSME and COIS; it is an approved examination centre for Cambridge International and Pearson Edexcel. The campus operates across four buildings with a staff of over 500 teachers and more than 50 administrators. Core features include Model United Nations and the Duke of Edinburgh International Award; extensive sports facilities (running track, indoor/outdoor pools, two grass football pitches, climbing wall); Learning Support and EAL; five libraries and a Virtual Library; and a broad ECA program in academics, sport and culture.
