King's Oak British International School was founded as The International School for Primary Education, a non-profit organisation established in 1994 by a group of parents to provide English-language education in Bucharest. It began as the International Nursery School, moved to the French Village in 1995, and reached full capacity in 2004. Due to demand for continuing education, it relocated again, and on 1 September 2009 the school changed its name to InSPE to reflect that it was now a combined Nursery and Primary School. The school is located by the lake in the northern part of Bucharest.
The school is built on British and international values and prioritizes pupil welfare and happiness. It provides a 21st-century education with transferable learning skills. After-school clubs extend learning beyond the normal program. Community outreach includes a weekly Parent & Toddler group on Tuesdays from 9:00 to 11:00 and a House System with four houses named after Romania's castles: Peles (Green), Corvin (Yellow), Bran (Blue), Rasnov (Red).
