The École française de Belgrade offers two linguistic pathways: Classique (enriched French curriculum) and Parle (adapted, with strengthened English). The school is a member of the AEFE network, and AEFE attests that the teaching conforms to the principles, programs, and organization of the French education system, allowing students to continue their education in France or at another AEFE school abroad. The school emphasizes interculturality and provides guidance toward higher education and the world of work. In secondary, students can pursue the general baccalaureate, the European section, or the French International Baccalaureate (BFI) with an American track; the general baccalaureate offers seven specialties: humanities, languages, literature and foreign cultures (LLCER), history-geography, geopolitics and political science (HGGSP), economics and social sciences (SES), mathematics, physics-chemistry (SPC), and life sciences (SVT).
In the elementary curriculum, arts and music are taught as core components. After school, a range of activities is offered including arts workshops (visual arts, music, theatre, modeling, pottery) and cultural/linguistic clubs (capoeira, board games, chess). The secondary program features theatre workshops in both middle and high school, with year-end performances. Additional after-school options include ballet, pilates, and various arts- and culture-related activities throughout the school levels.
Interculturality is central to the school's approach, and the EFB is linked to the AEFE network of international schools. Families choose between two linguistic tracks: Classique and Parle. The language of instruction is French, English is taught from Grande Section and typically reaches CECRL C1–C2 by graduation, Serbian language instruction is also provided, and a fourth language (Italian, German, or Spanish) is offered from class 5e. In secondary, there is a European Section (with English as a disciplinary language in part) and the French International Baccalaureate (BFI) with an American option, designed to facilitate access to universities worldwide.
A broad menu of after-school activities is available, including sports, arts, and language-based programs. After class, activities for primary and elementary students cover sports, arts, and cultural/linguistic initiatives, with schedules published on the Eduka portal. The school's sport program features the Association Sportive (multisport) on Wednesdays at the Kosutnjak sports institute and ongoing opportunities to compete with local and international schools. Theatre clubs operate in both middle and high school, with end-of-year performances, and there are additional lunchtime and after-school clubs such as capoeira, board games, and chess to foster social and cultural engagement.
The school is governed by a Parent Association (APE) whose members are parents volunteering to support school life; enrollment in the school makes parents members of the APE. The APE aims to unite parents around the educational community and to foster a friendly, vibrant environment with ongoing projects and activities. The school offers a Bourse d'Excellence (Merit Scholarship) for the 2026/2027 school year, covering tuition for two pupils from 3e to Terminale, with eligibility restricted to non-French nationals; applications are due by March 15, 2026. Families can apply for scholarships via the SCOLAIDE portal, and the school notes a potential AEFE Major Scholarship for some candidates depending on eligibility.
The school provides orientation support to help students pursue higher education and the professional world. The European Section and the BFIF (American) track offer enhanced English-language study and project-based learning when applicable, including a two-year in-depth project for BFIF students. The European Section includes a portion of history-geography taught in English (DNL) and extra English instruction, enhancing global readiness. The Baccalauréat général offers seven specialties, supporting diverse academic and professional pathways and university admissions worldwide.
