Wellbeing and Support

How students are nurtured, understood, and kept safe

Social and Emotional Learning (SEL)

Brighton Montessori HarbourFront integrates social-emotional development into its curriculum through an Emotional Intelligence (EI) framework that includes a daily 10‑minute Mindfulness Break, reflective journaling for N2–K2, and activities designed to develop self-awareness, empathy, and communication, with learning outcomes such as Recognising Emotions, Understanding Emotions, Emotional Mastery, Empathy Development and Effective Communication to enhance resilience, relationships, and mental well-being.

Special Educational Needs (SEN)

The school emphasises an individualized pace of learning and a low teacher–child ratio; there is no publicly disclosed information about a dedicated SEN program, staff or a specialist SEN centre.

English as an Additional Language (EAL)

English and Mandarin language exposure is integrated across Brighton Montessori HarbourFront, with bilingual English–Mandarin immersion in Infant Care and daily Mandarin instruction conducted by native-speaking Mandarin teachers in Pre‑Nursery/Playgroup and Nursery 2.

Mental Wellbeing

Mental wellbeing is supported as part of the EI curriculum's aims, including activities to build resilience, promote positive relationships and support emotional health, complemented by mindfulness practices.

Safeguarding

Safeguarding commitments are reflected in EYDF-aligned content such as a 'Supportive and safe environment' and a 'Partnership with families' within the Infant Care framework.
