Furen International School (FIS) was established in 2000 as a preparatory institution focused on preparing students for Singapore's O-Level examinations. Over the years, FIS expanded its curriculum to include courses such as the Cambridge International A-Level and the Singapore-Cambridge GCE A-Level, all aimed at equipping students for university admission.
FIS fosters a vibrant and inclusive community, encouraging student engagement through various clubs and activities to explore their interests and talents. FIS is notable for being the first and only private school in Singapore to have Boys and Girls Brigade, promoting leadership and community service among students. The school also organizes external events and activities, such as Leadership Camps and participation in conferences like the SCMUN, to enhance students' personal development and global awareness.
FIS does not have a formal Parent Teacher Association (PTA). However, the school maintains open communication channels between parents and educators. Each student is assigned a Student Development Manager who is in regular contact with both the student and their parents throughout their time at FIS. This approach ensures that parents are kept informed about their child's academic progress and well-being. The school also encourages parental involvement in various school activities and events.
Furen International School offers preparatory courses for various examinations, including the Cambridge IGCSE, Singapore-Cambridge GCE O-Level, CIE A-Level, and Singapore-Cambridge GCE A-Level, catering to students aged 11 and above. A distinguishing feature of FIS is its focus on preparing students for admission into top universities worldwide, with a track record of graduates securing placements in renowned institutions - over 90% of 2024 graduates were awarded places at QS Top 50 universities worldwide The facilities at FIS include smart classrooms, lecture halls, arts studios, laboratories, a library, and recreational areas.
