Josiah Montessori was started by three engineers who combined their professional aspirations with their wives' need for a good preschool, and the school was founded in March 1997. The Josiah Associates Pte Ltd operates the organisation. Wendy Tan and Lena Lim serve as Directors of Josiah Montessori. The Suntec City Mall location moved to a larger premises in Suntec City Mall in 2019. The Josiah Way, including its in-house Musical Arts Programme (MAP) and bilingual English–Mandarin language development, defines the school's identity.
The Josiah community conducts cultural and family events across its centres, including Chinese New Year celebrations such as CNY CELEBRATIONS 2019. Mid-Autumn Festival activities are highlighted in 2018 posts, reflecting cross-centre engagement. Happy Children's Day is celebrated across the four Josiah centres, with themes varying by year. The blog also emphasizes continuous parental engagement, with parents describing updates and involvement in their children's school life.
Josiah Montessori follows the Montessori philosophy, emphasizing independence, freedom within limits, and respect for a child's natural development. The curriculum is enhanced by the in-house developed Musical Arts Programme (MAP), which integrates performing arts to instill essential values. The school caters to children from 2 months to 6 years old, with programs segmented into Infants (2 months–18 months), Toddlers (18 months–3 years), Kindergarten (3–5 years), and Pre-Primary (6 years).
