Lily Valley Preschool was founded in 2021 by Mr. Ben Zhou, who identified a need for quality, child-focused early years education in Singapore. Established as a non-profit organization, the preschool emphasizes family participation and community collaboration in its educational approach.
The school operates under Lily Valley Pte. Ltd., a private company limited by shares, with all profits reinvested into the school to benefit the children, faculty, and facilities. Decisions regarding major expenditures and curriculum enhancements are made through a community voting structure, ensuring transparency and collective input.
Lily Valley Preschool fosters an inclusive school community where both parents and staff have a say in decision-making. Proposals on matters such as summer camps, curriculum additions, school facilities, and staff incentives are voted on collectively.
The school uses a forum-based voting system with delegated voting and online quorum meetings, replacing traditional board meetings to improve efficiency. This structure enables timely decisions and active participation from the broader community.
Lily Valley Preschool does not have a formal PTA but involves parents directly in school activities and decisions. Parents contribute to curriculum ideas, learning spaces, and join teaching teams.
A daily Parent Forum/Quorum allows feedback on school matters and child development. Decisions on programmes and facilities are made through a shared voting system. Parents also volunteer in community clubs and field trips. The model supports active collaboration between families and staff.
Lily Valley International Preschool offers the International Early Years Curriculum (IEYC) and transitions to the International Primary Curriculum (IPC) as children advance. The learning environment features specialized ateliers, such as the Light Atelier and Tinker and Maker Atelier, designed to stimulate creativity and exploration. A unique aspect of Lily Valley is its co-working space for parents which encourages active family participation in the educational journey
