The preschool was formerly known as Ascension Kindergarten, operated by the Church of the Ascension. In 2019, it became part of Anglican Preschool Services under the Little Seeds Preschool network. This integration brought shared oversight, resources, and a unified identity across Anglican preschools while retaining its connection to the church.
The school community is closely tied to the church and its chaplaincy. Children participate in weekly chapel assemblies, and families are invited to events such as Open Houses and community celebrations. The school also shares activities and resources for families to extend learning and play at home.
The centre does not publicly describe a formal Parent Teacher Association. However, parents are regularly engaged through open houses, family events, and the pastoral care programme led by the chaplain. These opportunities allow parents to participate in their child’s school life, give feedback, and strengthen connections with teachers and school leaders.
Little Seeds Preschool – Church of the Ascension is located at 11 Francis Thomas Drive, about a 10-minute walk from Potong Pasir MRT. The two-storey campus features a library, music room, indoor gym, construction classroom, outdoor playground, edible garden, dining hall, and an outdoor bike track, offering varied spaces for both indoor and outdoor learning. The preschool serves children from Playgroup through Kindergarten 2, typically from 18 months to 6 years old. Its curriculum is values-based and rooted in Christian teaching, complemented by inspiration from the Reggio Emilia approach. Programmes include phonics and reading in English, thematic Chinese learning, numeracy, and “Sensory Play & Inquiry.” The centre also integrates “Mind in the Making,” which helps children develop executive function skills such as focus, self-control, and perspective-taking. A distinctive feature of this preschool is its themed weeks, which give children opportunities for creative, hands-on exploration linked to real-world experiences.
