Rain Trees International Kindergarten was founded in 1999 as an independent, international preschool in Singapore. It was established to offer a play-based early years education influenced by the UK curriculum. The school has remained privately owned and has grown steadily over the years while maintaining a small, community-oriented environment.
Rain Trees has a close-knit school community made up of families from a range of cultural backgrounds. The school hosts regular events such as International Day, Sports Day, and end-of-term celebrations, where families are invited to participate. Cultural festivals like Chinese New Year and Deepavali are also marked with activities for the children. Parents are encouraged to be involved through classroom visits, social events, and ongoing communication with teachers.
Rain Trees does not have a formal Parent Teacher Association (PTA), but it maintains active parent involvement through informal channels. Parents are regularly invited to participate in classroom activities, school events, and excursions. The school encourages collaboration through ongoing communication between teachers and families, including parent-teacher meetings and newsletters.
Parents often help organise or support events such as International Day, bake sales, and seasonal celebrations. New families are welcomed into the community with support from staff and existing parents. While there is no structured PTA, parental engagement is a valued part of the school culture.
Rain Trees International Kindergarten caters for children aged 18 months to 6 years, following the UK Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum. The school emphasizes learning through play, hands-on activities, and discovery. A standout feature is the expansive 35,000 square feet garden, equipped with climbing frames, sandpits, ride-on toys, and a vegetable patch where children cultivate their own produce. For younger children, a Parent and Toddler Group is available, facilitating a gentle introduction to the school environment.
