Shaws Braddell Heights is located at 24 Lynwood Grove, Serangoon. Established in 1990, Shaws Braddell Heights was one of the first play-based preschools in Singapore. The campus features an expansive field for outdoor activities, a sandpit, mud kitchen, a long driveway for tricycle play, and weekly Messy Play and Little League (sports). A typical day starts at 8:30am with a gathering, followed by the English curriculum, outdoor/sensory/garden activities, and small-group Chinese lessons; lunch follows, and full-day students may join the Shaws Play Club with activities such as cooking, arts and crafts, or a new sport. The program is bilingual with English instruction and Mandarin learning integrated via the Chinese curriculum. The menu includes a variety of Asian and Western foods, with whole grain pasta and rice; snacks include fruits and biscuits with milk, and the school checks for allergies. Sugary drinks and processed foods are avoided. The principal is Rai Nutan, who holds a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Care and Education and a Specialist Diploma in Teaching and Supporting Children with Special Needs, with over 20 years in the industry and 8 years at Shaws; she leads with a roots-and-wings philosophy and aims to create a nurturing, inclusive environment. Memorable moments include soccer in the rain with children, parents, and staff, and a morning greeting routine under a table. There is an offer of up to $1000 savings if a child starts by mid-Jan 2025.
Shaws Preschool caters for children aged 18 months to 6 years. The curriculum integrates elements of Reggio Emilia, Waldorf Steiner, and Montessori philosophies, encouraging experiential learning through hands-on projects, outdoor exploration, and structured play. A standout feature is its dedicated sports program, led by professional coaches from Shaws Little League, where children engage in activities like soccer, rugby, and basketball.
