Shaws Lorong Chuan opened in 2017 and is located at 5 Mei Hwan Drive in the Serangoon area, in a bright, contemporary building. Shaws Mountbatten, the group's main campus, opened in 1989, making Shaws one of Singapore's earliest play-based preschools. Shaws was a pioneer in integrating sports and outdoor play as regular components of the curriculum, a hallmark that continues with the ShawsPlay program. The Lorong Chuan campus forms part of a wider Serangoon and East Coast campus network that includes Braddell Heights and other East Coast locations. The ShawsPlay curriculum blends inquiry-based learning with play and is used across Shaws' campuses.
Shaws Lorong Chuan emphasizes play-based learning within ample outdoor spaces, including a swimming pool for water play. A typical day combines circle time with hands-on activities across indoor classrooms and outdoor spaces such as playgrounds, gardens, sandpits, and mud kitchens. The campus hosts community events such as Open House and campus carnivals or sports events to engage families, which are publicized on Shaws' events channels. Parent involvement is supported through campus communications, tours, and feedback channels, fostering a multicultural and family-friendly learning environment.
Public materials describe parent engagement through campus events and on-site activity clubs rather than a named Parent-Teacher Association. Shaws Lorong Chuan offers activity clubs as part of its ShawsPlay path, including Little League, Little Chefs, Art Club, Water Confidence, and a Chinese Culture Club. Shaws Little League coaches come in weekly to lead age-appropriate sports such as football, basketball, tennis, rugby, and athletics. Open House events provide opportunities for parent participation and volunteering at campuses. Parents can contact campuses to arrange tours or learn about volunteering during events. Ongoing family communications are maintained by the campus leadership and teachers to support children's development.
Shaws Preschool caters for children aged 18 months to 6 years. The curriculum integrates elements of Reggio Emilia, Waldorf Steiner, and Montessori philosophies, encouraging experiential learning through hands-on projects, outdoor exploration, and structured play. A standout feature is its dedicated sports program, led by professional coaches from Shaws Little League, where children engage in activities like soccer, rugby, and basketball.
