The Swiss School in Singapore teaches according to the Cantonal curricula of Zug (German Stream) and Valais (French Stream), based on Lehrplan 21 and Plan d'études romand (PER). The curricula describe learning in terms of competencies—the ability to apply knowledge, act independently, responsibly and sustainably. In Singapore, English language instruction is emphasized and the school operates bilingually across streams. Young learners enter Little Tots at age 2 or Playgroup at age 3, with Kindergarten part of Primary; from Primary 1, reading and writing are taught in the stream language and English, while science and swimming are taught in English, with English proficiency increasing in higher grades to ease the transition to UWCSEA.
The holistic educational programme includes music, arts and crafts, artistic design and sports. This emphasis on the arts is part of the Primary 5 and 6 experience.
The school runs a German Stream (German and English) and a French Stream (French and English). In the bilingual concept, English is especially important in the Singapore context. Early years are English-dominant with German or French introduced gradually; Kindergarten marks the shift toward German or French, and in Primary 1 reading and writing begin in the stream language alongside English, with science and swimming taught in English and English increasing in higher grades to support progression to UWCSEA. The school also hosts cultural events such as Deepavali, Christmas and Chinese New Year to reflect Singapore's diverse communities.
Extra-Curricular Activities are offered, with Mandarin provided as an ECA. In Primary 5 and 6, ECAs run from 3:30pm to 5:00pm. The school life also includes events such as reading afternoons, flea markets and talent shows that foster student social engagement.
The Parents' Forum actively facilitates communication among parents, teachers and leadership and supports activities such as charity events, flea markets, welcome coffees and uniform reuse initiatives. Class representatives help connect families and contribute to a positive classroom-community atmosphere.
Sport plays an important role, with ACSIS inter-school football, swimming, tennis and track and field competitions; the school also participates in tournaments such as the Swiss Ambassador Cup and the VW Cup, with an annual Sports Day. Cosmo United Football Academy coordinates sports tournaments and athlete selection in line with school and ACSIS policies.
