The Winstedt School was founded in 2008 by Sharon Solomon, a third-generation Singaporean educator, to support students who learn differently. Initially established as a small private school named Learn Different, it began with just three students.
In 2017, the school moved to its current campus at 1208 Upper Boon Keng Road, a former Ministry of Education (MOE) school building. The Winstedt School is an independent, family-owned international school that has grown steadily over the years.
It now serves students from Reception through Year 13 on a single campus. The school’s approach has stayed consistent with its original mission to provide structured, multidisciplinary support within a mainstream setting.
The Winstedt School has a diverse student body with families from over 30 nationalities. The school community is supported by the Parent League, which helps organize events and activities throughout the year. Students take part in cultural celebrations, community service projects, and annual school-wide events such as camps and performances. These activities aim to build connection and involvement across students, staff, and families.
The Winstedt School’s Parent League functions as its Parent Teacher Association (PTA). It is open to all parents and works closely with school staff to support events and build community engagement.
The Parent League organizes social gatherings, holiday celebrations, and fundraising initiatives throughout the year. Members also help coordinate cultural events and contribute to school-wide activities such as the Yearbook and staff appreciation days. Regular meetings provide opportunities for parents to share feedback and stay informed.
Participation is voluntary, and the group aims to create a supportive link between families and the school.
The Winstedt School caters for students aged 4 to 18 years old. The school follows the International Primary Curriculum (IPC), International Middle Years Curriculum (IMYC), and Pearson Edexcel UK Curriculum for IGCSE examinations. The Winstedt School is well-known for supporting students with mild learning needs, such as dyslexia, ADHD, and sensory processing challenges and the school emphasizes small class sizes, allowing for tailored support and attention for each child. The campus features specialized learning spaces, including therapy rooms, sensory spaces, and creative studios. It is particularly known for its strong emphasis on the arts, with numerous opportunities for students to participate in music ensembles and drama performances. The school encourages community involvement through various environmental and service initiatives, teaching students the importance of giving back.
