Admissions Process

1. Enrollment for the bilingual program at Private Gymnasium Galileo School, Dudvážska 6, 821 07 Bratislava. Applications are submitted via E Prihlasky for each secondary school by February 20, 2026.
2. Entrance examinations — talent tests will be held in accordance with applicable school legislation (Act 245/2008 Z.z.) based on verification of special abilities, skills and talents.
3. The school principal, after discussion in the pedagogical council and with the founder, plans to open two first-year classes in the bilingual study program in the next school year. In accordance with Act 61/2015 Z.z. the self-governing region will publish the maximum number of first-year students by 30 November.
4. Dates of talent tests: 1st term – 23 March 2026, 2nd term – 30 March 2026.
5. Content of the verification of abilities, skills and talents: Test to verify general language and study prerequisites in English. The Cognitive Abilities Test (CAT) assesses: verbal, quantitative, nonverbal and spatial reasoning.
6. Admission condition: An applicant may be admitted if they achieve at least 75 SAS points from the verbal component of the English CAT test and have not been classified with a reduced grade for behaviour during primary school.
7. The headteacher will publish a list of all admitted and rejected applicants with coded designations on 15 April 2026. Absence from entrance examinations (illness – doctor's certificate not older than 3 days) must be reported by telephone and a written doctor's confirmation must be delivered to the school leadership.
8. Admission criteria for the school year 2026/2027:
- Evaluation of study results: Preferential points based on end‑of‑year grades from 8th grade and mid‑year grades from 9th grade (or, for students in 8th grade, end‑of‑year grades from 7th and mid‑year grades from 8th). Two mandatory subjects: Slovak language and literature; Mathematics. Points are calculated as: Points = 5.(4−x).(4−x), where x is the grade. Profilový predmet – English language: Points = 3.(4−x).(4−x), where x is the grade.
- Academic achievement: If a student earned a grade 1 in 8th grade (or 7th and 6th grade for a student in 8th grade), 5 points are awarded for each school year.
- Additional criteria: CAT test – verbal percentile up to 100 points; Essay – written part of the iLowerSecondary English section counts up to 100 points; Subject Olympiad – counted up to 100 points if the student placed 1st–5th in district or regional rounds in listed subjects; UKMT Mathematics Challenge – counted up to 100 points.
9. In case of a tie, the following criteria apply in order: (1) preference to a candidate with a disability as determined by the assessment board; (2) more points for criterion 2 (Additional Criteria); (3) more points in the designated profile subject of the school.
10. Input data: Completed application for admission to secondary education, or a transcript, diplomas or result lists proving the student's ranking or performance.
11. The document validity: The document is valid from 15 November 2024.

Galileo High School in Slovakia provides an English-language education for ages 3 to 18, delivering the Pearson Edexcel curriculum with a Slovak-English approach. Most subjects are taught in English using textbooks; Slovak Language is taught in Slovak and Mathematics is offered in both Slovak and English. With class sizes around 16, the school emphasises individualized learning and aligns with Slovak Ministry standards. It is Ministry-approved and part of the Slovak school network, with the rector of Constantine the Philosopher University in Nitra guarantor of learning. Galileo is accredited by the Ministry of Education and is an OxfordAQA International Centre as well as the first International Pearson Edexcel Centre in Slovakia. Online learning is supported via Microsoft Teams and Cisco Webex, with resources and grades shared via Teams. The campus comprises a building, a playground and sport area, learning rooms. Extras include Summer School, competitions, internships, and exchanges with partner schools.
