Parent Experience

Community, involvement and what it's like to be a parent at this school

History

Alenka Rajčić is the founder of Koper International School and started with opening her own language school and organising academic exchanges to England. In 2022 she decided to open an international secondary school offering the British curriculum with IGCSE and A-Levels. After two years of planning and recruiting teachers, with final approval from the ministry of education her dream came true. We opened our doors to students from around the world in September 2025. The school shares roots with Nista Language Centre, the oldest language school in Koper, founded by the same founder, Alenka Rajčić.

Community

Koper International School is the only British international school in Istria. All subjects (except languages) are taught in English, with Slovene and Italian taught in line with local schools to support integration. The school emphasizes language learning and multilingualism, aiming for students to reach at least B2/C1 in two additional languages. It hosts a thriving international community with a range of News and Events, including a Winter Trip to Forni di Sopra, a Trip to Barcelona, an Erasmus Exchange to Heidelberg, and a Whole School Christmas Concert.
