Gateway College Kandy offers a broad range of academic and intellectual clubs, including Debating Club, MUN Club, English Literary Society, History Society, Geography Club, Science Society and Math Society. The ICT Society, Astronomy/Aviation Club, Interact Club, General Knowledge Club and Law Society are also part of the programme. Participation develops teamwork, leadership, research and presentation skills; co-curricular activities are recognized at the College Awards Day, and Gateway participates in national and international events such as COMUN and Harvard MUN.
Arts and creative activities include Art Club (Artastic Club), Drama Club, Choir Club and Orchestra/Western Band. Students can also engage in the Production/Voices Journalist Club and Broadcasting unit to develop media and performance talents. These activities provide opportunities to express creativity, perform and collaborate on school productions.
Cultural and language clubs include Buddhist Society, Christian Society, Hindu Society, Islamic Society and Sinhala Society, as well as French Club. The school supports religious and cultural activities throughout the year, including Vesak lantern competitions, Bhakthi Gee and Dhamma discussions, Islamic Day, Christmas carols, Holi and Avurudu celebrations. Avurudu is observed across the school during the April festival.
Social and hobbies are fostered through Interact Club, Debating Club, English Literary Society, Broadcasting/Media unit, Photography Club, Scrabble Club, General Knowledge Club, Toastmasters and Broadcasting, and Quiz Club. These clubs promote collaboration, communication and shared interests. Students pursue leadership, teamwork and creative expression through these groups.
Community and service opportunities include Interact Club, St John's Ambulance service and the First Aid Society, along with the Community Service Club and Environmental Club/Science Society. These activities involve volunteering, service projects and outreach within the school and broader community.
Leadership and professional skills are developed through the Founder's Award, Toastmasters and Broadcasting, and the MUN Club. Interact Club also provides leadership opportunities, while Debating and related clubs build public speaking and organizational abilities.
A Mindfulness programme is in place with a 5-minute morning mindfulness routine and MindUp-based home-room activities to support attention, emotion regulation and wellbeing. Religious observances are allocated after intervals to reflect Sri Lankan multi-faith identity. Gateway College Kandy provides an international education in Sri Lanka for ages 2 to 18. The school follows Cambridge curricula at Primary and Secondary levels, offering Cambridge and Pearson Edexcel IGCSEs and BTEC qualifications. The Curriculum Prism integrates academics, sport, co-curricular activities and character development, modelling the English National Curriculum while incorporating local history, culture and civil society to ground students in Sri Lanka and broaden global perspectives. The campus offers Foundation to Graduation pathway from Play Group to Degree Level, with facilities such as a reading corner, music room, multipurpose room with a mini library, IT suite and outdoor play area. Primary and Secondary campuses feature libraries, science and design technology labs, art and drama spaces, a Math Lab, an Innovation Studio, an auditorium and ICT suites, plus BYOD at A Level and School-On-Line. Since 2020, the school has operated a hybrid teaching model, reinforcing flexibility and continuity globally.
