History

Gateway College was established in 1997 in a converted house with 33 students and eight staff. In January 2005, Gateway International School became Gateway College, signaling a new era in Sri Lanka's international school system. In 2013, the motto changed from "Gateway to Knowledge" to "Gateway to Learning" to reflect a focus on lifelong learning. The school provides learning of global standards while retaining the culture of Sri Lanka and is an international school in a Sri Lankan environment. Students engage in daily religious observances and a variety of religious, charitable and social service activities throughout the year, and in 2020 moved to a hybrid model of teaching and learning.
