Leeds International School is a K–12, co‑educational institution established in 1999 in Panadura, Sri Lanka, with a network across many towns. The curriculum centers on the Edexcel International framework for IGCSE and IAL examinations, complemented by a National curriculum in English medium offered at selected branches, and from 2025/26 Edexcel iPrimary preparation at chosen campuses. The school emphasizes critical thinking, digital literacy, creative problem solving, multilingual communication, and ethical and cultural values, with assessments that combine formative activities, skill‑based evaluations, mid‑term and end‑term examinations, and project work. LEEDS follows the Edexcel International curriculum as the primary framework, preparing students for IGCSE and IAL examinations. A National curriculum in English medium is also offered in selected branches, providing a dual pathway for different educational goals. From the 2025/26 academic year, Edexcel iPrimary preparation will be available at selected branches. The curriculum emphasizes critical thinking, global-local balance, digital literacy, creative problem-solving, multilingual communication, ethical and cultural values, and physical and artistic growth. Assessment is designed to be both formative and summative, with regular classroom assessments, skill-based evaluations (such as public speaking and critical thinking), standardized mid-term and end-of-term examinations, and project-based assessments to apply knowledge.
The Matara branch has over 130 teachers and support staff, and maintains an optimal student-teacher ratio.
LEEDS Matara's IGCSE O/L, AS, and A/L results demonstrate academic excellence. Each year, students earn placements on the high achievers' awards list, and the pass rate has been steadily increasing.
