Royal Institute International School – Maharagama is a multi-curriculum campus serving students from age 2 to 18 on No. 11, Apeksha Hospital Rd, Maharagama, Sri Lanka. The Maharagama branch offers Montessori (AMI), Cambridge (Primary to A/AS Levels), Cambridge IGCSE, Cambridge International AS Levels, Cambridge A Levels, and Pearson Edexcel IGCSE, giving families a choice between Cambridge and national curricula. Established in 2005, the branch now educates over 1,000 students across more than 50 classrooms, with dedicated science laboratories for Biology, Physics and Chemistry, modern ICT laboratories, and a library that supports learning. The school is equipped with a Sports Complex in Wijerama featuring a swimming pool, gym, and multiple courts, enabling a wide range of indoor and outdoor activities. Extracurriculars include Interact Club, RIMUN, Mathematics Club, Drama Circle, Art Club, and Media Club. A Promising Leaders program and Interact activities foster student leadership, academic inquiry, and community engagement across campuses.

Royal Institute International School - Maharagama teaches Montessori Curriculum, Cambridge (Primary), Cambridge (Secondary), Cambridge IGCSE, Cambridge International AS Levels, Cambridge A Levels, Pearson Edexcel IGCSE for students aged 2 to 18.
The Maharagama branch offers AMI, Cambridge, Edexcel, and National curricula. Learners may be prepared for National GCE Ordinary Level and Advanced Level examinations or Cambridge Ordinary Level examinations.
Degree Programmes provide opportunities to read for Degrees and Certificates from University of London and Deakin University.
The school supports social and emotional learning through a holistic education approach. Ethics education and diversity awareness are central components, with virtues such as honesty, respect, responsibility and compassion taught through the Ethics syllabus. Leadership development is fostered through prefect programs and clubs across branches.

The English for Juniors course prepares students from Grade 1 to 8 to meet the demands of the future world, improving listening, speaking, reading, writing, pronunciation, vocabulary and grammar.
Mental health and emotional well-being are integral to a well-rounded education. Regular mental health awareness sessions and stress management workshops are conducted, and a School Counselling Programme is being implemented across all five branches to support students and teachers.
Primary Admissions (Nursery to Grade 10) information is available from the Secretary (Admissions) at Havelock Town or any other Royal Institute branch, including Maharagama. Students must sit for a placement test before admission, and admission is based on the marks scored. Documents for admission include a copy of the Birth Certificate and two passport-size photographs. Ordinary Level Admissions require a placement test; admission is based on marks and ability; documents include a copy of the Birth Certificate, Leaving Certificate from the previous school, and two passport-size photographs; Advanced Level Admissions require selecting a stream and subjects and an interview with the Vice Principal and/or Principal; admission requires passes in not less than six subjects at Cambridge O-Levels, IGCSE or Local O-Levels including Maths and English with at least three Bs and preferably two Bs in the offering subjects; applicants may apply with pending OL results; documents to submit include Birth Certificate, O-Level result sheet, Leaving Certificate, and two passport-size photographs.
The Little Arts Art Competition awards scholarships to winners and participants. Open to children aged 2–6 from preschools outside Royal Institute; Royal Institute students are not eligible to participate; Scholarships are non-transferable and apply only at Royal Institute International School. First Place receives 100% off the admission fee and 25% off the term fee for one year, plus a 25,000 LKR cash prize and a certificate; Second Place receives 100% off admission and 15% off the term fee for one year, plus a 15,000 LKR cash prize and a certificate; Third Place receives 100% off admission and 10% off the term fee for one year, plus a 10,000 LKR cash prize and a certificate; Best Performance receives 75% off the admission fee; Participants receive 50% off the admission fee; Best Participating Nursery receives 25,000 LKR cash prize and a certificate of appreciation.
