Wycherley International School Colombo was established on January 7, 1985 at 232 Bauddhaloka Mawatha, Colombo 7, starting with 100 students and 40 staff. By 1986 it expanded to Grade 12, and in 1988 senior classes moved to Queens Road, Colombo 3, enabling growth of both the Junior and High Schools with enhanced facilities. In 1996 the 10th anniversary reflected a student body of over 1,000 and a growing reputation for Cambridge examination success. From 2001–2025 Wycherley expanded with new infrastructure, added branch schools in Dehiwala and Gampaha, and introduced the Cambridge International Primary Programme, becoming the first Sri Lankan school to offer Cambridge curricula from Grades 1–12; English remains the academic language and Sinhala, Tamil, French and German are taught to support an international education. During 2020–2022 the pandemic prompted a rapid online learning transition, and today the school highlights world prizes, 100% pass rates and top-tier A-Level results, guided by the motto Tradition - Education – Excellence.
Wycherley has a wide range of extra-curricular activities and students are encouraged to actively participate in clubs and committees. Clubs include Art Club, Aviation Club, Broadcasting Club, Buddhist Society, Debate Club, Environmental Club, English Drama and Literary Society, French Club, Film Club, Hindu Society, Heritage Club, ICT Club, Interact Club, Islamic Society, Media Club, Student Christian Movement, Quiz Club, Commerce and Business Club, Model UN Club and Science Society. Model UN Club was established in January 2023 and has earned 85 national and international awards, with four members selected to the SLMUN 2025 Executive Committee. Environmental Club promotes sustainability and environmental awareness, including the Elephant Scholarship Fund totaling over 1.2 million rupees and a Baddegana Wetland Park cleanup.
Wycherley International School Colombo is an international Cambridge curriculum school serving students aged 3 to 18. It is the first and only comprehensive Sri Lankan school following the Cambridge Curriculum from UKG (Year 1) through Grade 12. Cambridge Early Years, Cambridge Primary, Lower and Upper Secondary, Cambridge IGCSE or O Level, and Cambridge International AS & A Levels are taught within a continuous programme. English is the language of instruction, with Sinhala, Tamil, French and German offered to support an international education. Established in 1985, it has campuses in Dehiwala and Gampaha, including Gampaha site with a 25-meter pool, sports courts and modern laboratories. Facilities include science and computer laboratories, libraries, art rooms and performance spaces. Wycherley has earned world prizes and reports 100% pass rates and strong A-Level results, guided by the motto Tradition - Education – Excellence.
