Introduction

Deutsche Schule Stockholm is a German international school in Stockholm serving ages 1 to 18. It follows the German curriculum and offers the German International Abitur (DIA) alongside the Swedish Abschlusszeugnis. The kindergarten is bilingual in Swedish and German, with Grundschule (classes 0–4) before Gymnasium from class 5. From year 4, all students study English; French is available from year 6 and Latin from year 8. The DIA allows up to 50 percent of Abitur subjects to be examined in Swedish. The school has a history spanning more than 400 years; German language instruction and examinations resumed after World War II in 1953. Facilities include a bilingual Kindergarten at Karlavägen 25 and a fourth-floor MINT area with a MINT Lounge, sensors, a 3D printer, electronics, and a workshop for project-based learning. Freizeitheim provides after-school care for preschool to class 3. The school describes itself as a Begegnungsschule fostering cross-cultural exchange between German and Swedish cultures.

Fees
Application fees

- No non‑refundable application fee is listed as part of the school's admission process for its programs; application and registration are handled by the school's admission forms and procedures.

Tuition fees by year group (per term / per year)

- Compulsory school and gymnasium (pupils funded by Swedish municipalities / with Swedish personal identity numbers): there is no tuition charge for standard schooling; the school's education is financed primarily by Swedish municipal "skolpeng" and German state support rather than by recurring parental tuition. (No termly or annual tuition is charged for pupils covered by those public funding arrangements.)

- Kindergarten / Förskola: the kindergarten is organised as a full‑day German kindergarten. Specific parental fees for kindergarten places are not published as a uniform tuition schedule on the school's public admissions documents; the school does note that kindergarten and certain pedagogical services exist and that costs for work materials and some activities can be charged. Where a fee applies for kindergarten care, it is administered by the school's administration.

- Fritids (after‑school care for Förskoleklass–Åk 3): the school operates a fritidshem for pupils in förskoleklass through year 3. Specific recurring fritids fees are not published as a consolidated term/year fee schedule on the school's admissions pages; the fritids placement rules (including automatic termination at age 10) and related administrative details are published. Any parental charge for fritids is managed by the school's administration.

- International / non‑municipally funded pupils: the school's public pages emphasise that funding comes from state support for pupils with Swedish personal identity numbers; no general published multi‑year tuition table for privately funded international placements appears on the school's public admission pages.

Billing schedule and payment terms

- The school issues and manages invoices and administrative charges through its administration; specific recurring termly or annual billing dates for tuition are not published as a single public fee schedule. Any payable items (kindergarten fees, fritids fees, material contributions, class‑trip balances or one‑off administrative charges) are invoiced by the school and are payable under the invoice terms issued by the school's administration.

Boarding fees (if applicable)

- The Deutsche Schule Stockholm operates as a day school; no boarding or full‑/weekly‑boarding programme is provided and there are no boarding fees.

Other costs or fees

- Administrative fee for copies of school certificates / transcripts: there is a stated administration charge of SEK 400 for ordering copies of school leaving certificates (digital or paper).

- Work materials and learning resources: the school's enrolment agreement (Schulvereinbarung) states that the school may charge parents for some work materials (for example exercise books, calculators, workbooks) and that parents bear parts of costs for mandatory class trips; amounts are charged as appropriate by the administration.

- Class trips and mandatory excursions: class trips with overnight stays (specified years) are compulsory and are subsidised in part by the school; parents are required to pay the remaining cost share invoiced by the school.

Refund information

- The school's publicly posted enrolment agreement and FAQ describe which activities may incur parental costs (materials, trips) and administrative charges (transcript orders). No separate, published general refund schedule for those charges (for example pro‑rata refunds on term charges) appears in the school's publicly available admissions and enrolment documents. Refunds or cancellations for individually invoiced items are handled administratively by the school.

Fee payment options

- Bank transfer to the school's SEK bankgiro is provided as a payment method and the school publishes its bankgiro number for payments. Other specific payment methods (credit card, Swish, direct debit) are not published as a consolidated list on the public admission pages.

Summary – practical points for parents

- For pupils funded by Swedish municipalities (i.e., pupils with Swedish personal identity numbers) there is no recurring tuition charge for the standard school programme; the institution is principally financed through state/municipal and German federal support.

- The only explicit, publicly posted parental charge found on the school's public documents is the SEK 400 administration fee for ordering copies of certificates; the enrolment agreement also specifies that parents may be charged for work materials and required class‑trip shares.

- The school is a day school (no boarding) and publishes a bankgiro number for payments.
Academics

The school offers the German International Abitur and the Swedish final certificate.
