Fees
Application fees

- There is no application fee to register or apply for a place at Internationella Engelska Skolan Järfälla. Internationella Engelska Skolan Järfälla is a publicly funded Swedish grundskola for years 5–9 and does not charge an application or enrolment fee.

Tuition fees (by year group, per term and per year)

- Years 5–9: Tuition fee = SEK 0 per term; SEK 0 per academic year. All compulsory basic education at this school is provided without tuition charge. (Applies to the school's year groups 5–9.)

Billing schedule and payment terms

- Municipal after‑school club (fritidsklubb) standard billing: when applicable, municipal fritids fees are billed monthly. The invoicing breakpoint is the 1st day of each month; if a child has a place on the 1st they are invoiced for that whole month. Payment by autogiro (direct debit) and e‑faktura is available for municipal charges. Late or unpaid fees may be referred to debt collection and can lead to the loss of the place.

- IES Junior Club (the school's own after‑school provision) is charged directly to the school rather than via the municipality; invoicing and cancellation for this activity are handled by the school. Payment terms and exact fees for the Junior Club are determined by the school.

Boarding fees

- There are no boarding or boarding‑school (internat) services at Internationella Engelska Skolan Järfälla; the school operates as a day school for years 5–9. Therefore no boarding fees apply.

Other costs and optional charges

- Fritidsklubb: where a child uses the municipal open fritidsklubb, the standard Järfälla municipal fee is SEK 250 per month (fixed fee, covering materials, an afternoon snack and lunch on school holiday days). Sibling discounts and other municipal rules apply according to municipal regulations.

- School trips, voluntary activities and extracurricular items: optional activities such as school trips, voluntary extracurricular programmes or special optional courses may incur separate charges. Small voluntary costs for activities or materials may occur in compulsory schools when they reflect voluntary extras; such charges are handled according to applicable Swedish regulations on school fees.

- Uniforms and compulsory clothing: the school does not operate a compulsory uniform programme. No standard uniform fee is listed for this school.

Refunds and credits

- Municipal refunds/credit notes: overpayments to the municipality result in a credit invoice and reimbursement; credit invoice procedures and payout to a bank account are managed by the municipality and may be offset against other unpaid municipal invoices.

- Cancellation and termination rules for municipal fritids: up to the municipal breakpoint rules, a 30‑day notice period applies for the fritidsklubb place; because invoicing breaks on the 1st of the month a cancellation part‑month may still result in a full monthly charge depending on timing.

- School‑run programmes (IES Junior Club and any school‑levied optional charges): refunds, cancellation terms and any credit rules for fees levied directly by the school are governed by the school's own terms and are processed by the school.

Accepted payment methods and administration

- Municipal charges (e.g., fritidsklubb) can be paid by autogiro (direct debit) and received as e‑faktura; invoices are issued and standard municipal e‑invoice/autogiro channels are supported.

- Administrative and enrolment platform: the school uses SchoolSoft and BankID for queueing/enrolment and parent communication; some school fees or Junior Club invoices are administered directly by the school's administration (invoicing methods for these school‑levied charges follow the school's local procedures).

Admissions

Admissions

1) Start by selecting IES Järfälla and filling in the application form. If the child has a Swedish personal identity number, enter it in the format yymmdd-nnnn; if not, contact the relevant school by email or telephone. If the child has a sibling in the same school, enter the sibling's Swedish personal identity number to receive priority in the queue when space is available. During the application, make a language choice (the third language to study at Internationella Engelska Skolan) and provide the child's mother tongue if not Swedish, plus contact details for the child's current school and for guardians.

2) After you complete the form, you will receive a confirmation email stating that your child is registered in the queue with the date of registration. Read the confirmation and save it. When a space becomes available, the school will contact you.

3) Keep your contact information up to date within your application and notify the school if you move or change telephone numbers or e-mail addresses so that the school can reach you to offer space when the time comes. It is the custodian's responsibility to keep contact information up to date. At any time you can log in and view your queue by returning to the application form and clicking login in the upper right. Your login details will be in the confirmation email.

4) Placements are offered as spaces become available and are allocated by queue position; where applicable, siblings receive priority. There are no entrance tests for admission; placements are based solely on queue time. Early queue position increases the likelihood of receiving a place.

5) In spring, Introduction Day is arranged for students who have accepted a place and are registered as admitted to the school for the next academic year. The day is held on a Saturday in April and includes three activities across three subjects and provides a glimpse of school life, the bilingual environment, and the chance to meet mentors and future classmates.

6) For questions about the queue or admissions process, contact the IES Järfälla Admissions Coordinator at admissions.jarfalla@engelska.se or call +46 8 584 306 30.

Waitlist

1) Each IES school maintains its own queue; places are allocated in the order of queue time, with priority given to siblings where applicable. There are no entrance tests. The earlier a child is placed in the queue, the higher the chance of receiving a place. The queue is managed per school, and applicants may apply to multiple schools at the same time.

2) The application period is open year-round and you can apply to several schools simultaneously. You can place your child in the queue starting from February 1 of the year after the child was born.

3) When you click the applicable apply option, you are directed to SchoolSoft's queue system. Log in with BankID to complete your details. If Swedish BankID is not available, an alternative paper application can be submitted directly to the school.

4) Queue offers are sent as spaces become available. If an offer is made, guardians must respond to confirm by the deadline; failure to respond may result in removal from the queue. The process continues until all places are filled.

5) There is an Introduction Day in spring for students who have accepted a place, held on a Saturday in April. Students participate in activities and get a sense of the bilingual environment, meet mentors, and connect with future classmates.

6) If you have questions about the queue or admissions, contact the IES Järfälla Admissions Coordinator for guidance.
