History

IES Kista opened in 2015 by Barbara Bergström, founder of Internationella Engelska Skolan. It is located in part of the former Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) buildings on Kista's technology campus, near Kista Galleria and the Stockholm Metro. It is part of the IES network and teaches roughly half of its subjects in English and half in Swedish, with English as the working language. It currently serves about 700 students in years 4 to 9. From 2024, the school will welcome preschool class (F-3) with two classes and, in the coming years, three classes in each year group; the final aim is 880 students across preschool class to year 9, guided by IES's three pillars: high academic expectations, a safe and orderly environment, and command of the English language.
