Admissions

Admissions

1. Queue and registration. IES uses a queue system called SchoolSoft. BankID is required to register for the queue, and you log in to update details or manage your application. Each school has its own queue, and your position is managed within that school's queue. Being in the queue or having a place at one IES school does not grant priority at other IES schools.

2. Queue order and sibling priority. The queue operates on a first-come, first-served basis. Sibling priority applies when a sibling currently attends, or has been accepted into, an IES school at the time when the next sibling is due to start. You can add the sibling's Swedish personal identity number (personnummer) to your profile. Do not expect priority at other schools based on your queue position at one school.

3. When can I place my child in the queue. You can place your child in the queue from February 1st the year after they were born at the earliest. The queue entry creates a position for your child at the chosen school. The queue is school-specific and independent from other IES schools.

4. How do I apply to the school. The application window is open all year round, and you can apply to multiple schools at the same time. To apply, click Apply here, select the school, then log in with BankID and fill in your personal details. If you do not have BankID, you can use the paper application form instead.

5. Multiple applications and transferring queue time. If you have already applied to one school but want to join the queue for a different school, you cannot transfer queue time between schools. You may be in the queue for multiple schools by adding them through your SchoolSoft profile. Each queue remains independent, so the overall wait time may vary by school.

6. Residency and eligibility. You can apply even if you do not currently live in Sweden. Places are offered to students who are registered residents in Sweden (folkbokförda). If your child does not have a Swedish personal identity number but you plan to move here, contact the relevant school for guidance with the application process.

7. Visiting the school before applying. You can visit the school before applying by contacting the admissions team for information about opportunities to visit. Open house days and visit details are listed on each school's site.

8. Entrance exams. Entrance exams or selection tests are not used for admission to IES schools. Places are allocated based on queue time.

9. Waiting time and queue position. Waiting times vary from school to school. Queue position may change due to sibling priority and other factors. The school can advise on current queue status.

10. Offers and timelines. Before the admissions process begins, the school will email to notify you that the process is underway. If you are offered a place, you must respond within the specified deadline. If no response is received, the offer passes to the next applicant in the queue.

11. Declining or deferring offers. If a place is declined, the offer is forfeited and the opportunity passes to the next in line. If you change your mind later, you may submit a new application. You can also defer your requested start date within the queue system.

12. General notes on start dates and next steps. If you defer, or if you need to adjust your start date, you can do so within the queue system. You may contact the school for assistance with any changes to your application or queue status.

Waitlist

The waitlist at IES Kungsbacka is managed via SchoolSoft, with each school maintaining its own queue. The queue operates on a first-come, first-served basis, and sibling priority applies when a sibling currently attends or has been accepted into an IES school. Being in the queue or having a place at one IES school does not confer priority at other IES schools. You can place your child in the queue from February 1st of the year after they were born, at the earliest. Applicants may apply to multiple schools; each school's queue is separate. Entrance exams are not required for admission. Waiting times vary by school, and queue position can change due to sibling priority. Offers are communicated by email with a deadline to respond; declining a place forfeits it, and you may reapply later. Visits to the school before applying are possible by contacting the admissions team. You can apply even if you do not currently live in Sweden, but offers are made to registered residents in Sweden (folkbokförda). If you do not have a Swedish personal identity number but plan to move, contact the school for guidance.
