École Française Arthur-Rimbaud in Dar es Salaam is a bilingual French school serving ages 2 to 18 within the AEFE network. The curriculum follows the French national education program and is taught in French and English, with a primary-level British international section. The school operates on two Masaki campuses: the main campus houses Primary and Secondary, while a second campus provides Preschool facilities and a covered sports field. Approximately 500 students from 48 nationalities learn in both languages, with language pathways including Spanish, Italian and German from age 12, and Japanese from Grade 10. Libraries on both campuses support research and media education. Extracurricular activities span more than 40 options each year and are conducted in French and English. The Sustainability Committee coordinates environmental projects, while language programs foster multilingualism. Ecole Francaise Arthur Rimbaud teaches French Curriculum for students aged 2 to 18.
Following the French national education program and being part of the AEFE network, the school offers a bilingual curriculum in French and English. It is officially labeled a British international section at the primary level. The school serves students from preschool (TPS) to terminale (Grade 12).
Primary level teachers organize workshops within the classroom to support students. If necessary, personalized assistance can be organized outside of school hours. At secondary level, methodological and/or personalized assistance can be offered to students, particularly at the start of middle school (6ème), to help them adapt and complete their school work.
Most lessons are taught in French; English and Spanish are taught as foreign languages. English is taught as a second language with structured hours: in nursery, 3.5/25 hours per week are allocated to LVE1 and CLIL/EMILE, with additional APC LVE1 English support for French-speaking newcomers. In elementary, 22/23 hours per week are in French; English is 3/25 hours per week (LVE1), sometimes 2 hours in Grades 4–5, plus 2 hours of CLIL. In secondary, LVE1 English is 3 hours weekly; LVE2 Spanish begins in Grade 7; LVE3 CNED is available from Grade 10.
1. Eligibility and admission routes: Arthur Rimbaud accepts students from the AEFE network without admission exams. Transfers from accredited French schools may occur directly depending on available positions; for any other case, admissions follow a procedure that includes a placement test. As of the Christmas holidays there are no new admissions for the elementary level starting from CP for students not arriving from a school accredited by the Ministry of Education. 2. Sign regulations electronically: The electronic validation of enrolment conditions on Skolengo serves as the official signature of the school's regulations and charters. 4. Prepare and submit required documents: Review and submit the informative documents (School fees; 2025-2026 School calendar; 2025-2026 Financial regulations; Enrolment process guide; Acknowledgement of the financial regulations) and the additional documents (Educational contract; Internal regulations; Catering internal regulations; Swimming pool regulations). 5. Financial obligations: Families are responsible for paying school fees and must make payments on time for the school to function properly. 6. Admissions timeline and notes: The school year runs from September to June and consists of 36 teaching weeks; transfers from accredited schools may be direct depending on space, while others follow the placement-test process. Entry windows include a restriction for non-accredited elementary entrants around Christmas.
Scholars are offered by the French Embassy to families of French children enrolled in the school whose resources are insufficient, and these scholarships can fully or partially cover tuition fees. The 2024-2025 scholarship campaign is the second period; the deadline is Friday, September 27, 2024 at 12:00. Applications and all required supporting documents must be submitted to the French Embassy by appointment. The package includes an Announcement, a Form, and a List of supporting documents.
