Parent Experience

Community, involvement and what it's like to be a parent at this school

History

The Établissement Régional de Tunis (ERT) groups the Collège-Lycée Pierre Mendès France in Tunis (Mutuelleville) and the two primary schools, Robert Desnos (El Omrane) and Georges Brassens (Megrine). As a direct-management AEFE institution, the ERT certifies that teaching aligns with the French education system's requirements, programs, and organizational rules. PMF opened in 1956 and sits on a 6-hectare site. The college-high school comprises more than 50 classrooms, more than 10 science and technology laboratories (including one NSI lab), 6 computer rooms, 2 music rooms, 2 art rooms, 2 conference rooms, 1 CDI, 4 sports grounds, and 1 climbing wall. Each year PMF welcomes more than 1,800 students.

Community

PMF's community life is active through events and clubs coordinated by the ERT and PMF. The Parents' Association (APE) organizes events that engage families, including social and cultural evenings such as the Soirée Mille et Une Nuits, a Ramadan-themed music evening. The calendar features open houses for CM2 from Robert Desnos and language and cultural activities, including the Arabic Language Week and a Winter Market. The school also hosts student clubs and organizations, such as a Webradio club, and maintains links with the Alumni Association to enrich school life.

Parent-Teacher Association

PMF has an Association des Parents d'élèves (APE) as its parent-teacher association. The APE coordinates family involvement and communications about events, including Soirée Mille et Une Nuits, a Ramadan-themed music evening. It organizes and publicizes family-oriented activities such as open-house events and the Rotary Dictation inscriptions (À vos plumes !). The APE collaborates with the broader PMF community to support pupil activities and foster school–family engagement. The school's community life also includes other parent-related groups and associations that contribute to a broader network of support for students and families.
