Parent Experience

History

LCDG Ankara has been present for more than 80 years. It began with a small operation staffed by two instructors and a limited number of classrooms, and by the late 1950s occupied a site near the archaeological museum with about 100 pupils. La Petite École opened in September 1959 at the gardens of the French Embassy, which remains the nursery site; lower secondary classes moved to premises on Bestekar Sokak and later to the premises of the French Institute from 1961. In the late 1960s, the Kurtbogazi dam project brought many French families to Ankara, and the school expanded to become the International Section of the Ankara Private Intermediate School offering international classes. Since 2008, the Lycée Français Charles de Gaulle has been under direct administration and operates on two sites, Ayrancı and Incek, with nursery classes at the French Embassy.

Community

Approximately 700 pupils attend LCDG Ankara, representing around 30 nationalities, with about 20 languages spoken. The school reports a BAC success rate of 90%. Student life includes Extracurricular Activities, a Sport Association, and Sustainable Development initiatives, and it hosts the APE – Parents Association and the ADALFA – Alumni Association to foster engagement. The community is enriched by cultural and educational activities across its campuses.

Parent Teacher Association (PTA)

APE – Parents Association is not a legal entity within the school and operates under its own statutes on a voluntary basis. It is present on numerous boards within the lycée and on AEFE platforms as a parent representative and works to enhance connections and communication between parents and the school. The APE protects the material and moral interests of pupils, supports school objectives, and helps organize cultural, artistic, and sporting events; it also represents parents on committees and ensures communication with the school administration and AEFE. It supports teachers' recommendations and projects, assists with surveys, transportation, and catering, and collaborates to improve relations with ADALFA. It accepts donations to fund activities and provides financial and moral support to pupils with insufficient means; it encourages participation in national and international projects.
