Parent Experience

Community, involvement and what it's like to be a parent at this school

History

Founded in 1998, Ecole Bilingue de la Nouvelle-Orléans was established by advocates of bilingual education. It began as l'Ecole Maternelle, a French full-immersion preschool with 16 four-year-old students. In 2002, the school launched its first kindergarten class and gradually expanded to a full elementary and middle school through the 8th grade. The school adopted its current name during 2010–2012 as it expanded, and earned accreditation from the French Ministry of Education (preschool 2005; Cycle 2 2010; Cycle 3 2012). In 2022, it was accredited by the Independent Schools Association of the Southwest and joined NAIS, and today serves nearly 450 students aged 18 months through 8th grade as Louisiana's private, independent French-immersion school.

Community

Confident & Multicultural: From the earliest age, our students are immersed in a second language and in art, music, and movement to develop self-expression and appreciation for other cultures. Curious & Creative: We encourage students' innate curiosity to foster the joy of learning, and we nurture students' individual interests to grow their passions. Character & Courage: We strive to create a place where everyone feels they belong; we celebrate languages, cultures, and perspectives, and our students develop into compassionate leaders in a multicultural world.

Parent-Teacher Association

The Parent Association enriches the lives of students by participating in fundraising endeavors, fostering a strong parent-school relationship, supporting teachers and administration with non-academic events or activities, and providing a forum for dialogue between parents and the administration. All EB Parents are automatically part of the Parent Association, and getting involved is easy. You can join a committee and lend a hand when needed, or sign up to lead a Parent Association initiative. Parent Association Committees include Fundraising and Social Events; School Improvements / Maintenance and Beautification; Ambassador; and Room Parents. Leaders are sought for the 2025-2026 school year; inquiries can be directed to PA@ebnola.com.

Ecole Bilingue de la Nouvelle-Orléans is a private, independent French-immersion school in Louisiana that blends the French national curriculum with an American program to create a bilingual learning community for students from 18 months through 8th grade. Accredited by the French government (preschool 2005; Cycle 2 2010; Cycle 3 2012) and, since 2022, by the Independent Schools Association of the Southwest and NAIS, the school serves about 450 students in a two-building campus with a renovated third building, a playground, and a garden. Divisions include Maternelle (18 months–Kindergarten), Élémentaire (1st–5th), and Collège (6th–8th). From early years, students are immersed in a second language and participate in art, music, movement, and physical education multiple times weekly. After-school programs include piano, gymnastics, ballet, tennis, cross country, swimming, soccer, and rugby. Distinctive features include the Ateliers after-school enrichment, German language offerings, and community events such as Fête Française, reflecting a bilingual, bicultural ethos.
