ISL participates in the MATHCOUNTS Competition at UNO. ISL students also participate in the GNOSEF Science & Engineering Regional Fair. DELF A2 (5th Grade Oral Exam) and DELF B1 (8th Grade Oral Exam) are used as language assessments within ISL's immersion program. ISL students have earned national recognition in competitions, including Sophie Stopak's first place in the Confucius Institute Star Chinese Speech and Talent Competition and Ozma B's first place at the State Science Fair.
ISL has 22+ enrichment teachers who teach Art, Music, Physical Education/Movement, and Library across three campuses, providing enrichment more than five times per week. ISL offers 4th–5th Grade Art Open Studio as part of the enrichment program. ISL hosts Circus Arts activities with rehearsals and performances, including Circus Arts-related events around Jazz Fest.
ISL offers French and Spanish immersion for Kindergarten through the 8th grade. St. Roch Campus (K–3) offers French and Spanish immersion; Uptown Campus (4–8) offers French and Spanish immersion; Westbank Campus (K–5) offers Spanish immersion. ISL has been awarded LabelFrancÉducation by the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs for excellence in bilingual education. The ISL mission emphasizes language immersion, international awareness, and diversity across three campuses in New Orleans.
ISL provides Before and After School Childcare Programs (Early Bird and Prime Time) for working families. The Community Works After School Program operates in partnership with Community Works. ISL hosts campus activities and events such as ISL Community Night at City Park. Lower and middle school enrichment activities include events like Enrichment Open Studio sessions.
ISL is a nonprofit, public, tuition-free school. The school relies on donors to fund programming and maintains a strong commitment to language immersion, diversity, and community awareness. ISL emphasizes community engagement and has a Community Engagement Facilitator and volunteer opportunities for families; ISL also hosts community events across its campuses.

International School of Louisiana (ISL) is a tuition-free public charter school system providing K–8 across three campuses. ISL offers an American curriculum delivered through language immersion in French or Spanish, with English instruction for enrichment. The Immersive Experiential Curriculum follows Louisiana Standards, with Kindergarten and 1st grade spending about 90% of time in the target language, and Grades 2–5 spending about 80% in the target language; middle school allocates around 25% immersion time, with English used for Social Studies and Science and a three-year sequence of a critical language (such as Mandarin) beginning in middle school.
