Academic and Intellectual

The Montessori Cosmic Curriculum uses Great Lessons to lay a broad foundation of learning, exposing students to history, geography, anthropology, biology, chemistry, physics, astronomy, botany, and ecology. The Montessori curriculum is aligned with the Common Core State Standards in the District of Columbia. Montessori education follows six core principles, including the Absorbent Mind, Freedom Within Limits, and Sensitive Periods, and uses multi-age communities to support learning at each child's pace. Teachers follow the child, observing each learner and guiding activities in a prepared environment that fosters discovery.

Cultural and Language

The school uses a dual English and Spanish language immersion model. PK3 is Spanish-only; PK4 and Kinder are bilingual with one language in the morning and the other in the afternoon; Lower and Upper Elementary (1st–5th) use both languages with two guides per classroom. The school values and celebrates Latin American heritage, and most staff are from Latin American countries or descended from Latino immigrants; heritage is incorporated into the school's work. The mission is to be a bilingual Montessori community rooted in Latin American culture.

Social and Hobbies

LAMB maintains a Neighborhood Community Committee to foster good neighborhood relations; meetings are open to the public and held online with RSVP. Family involvement is encouraged through calendars, the Family Handbook, and family portals.

Leadership and Professional

LAMB is governed by a Board of Directors that provides fiscal oversight and sets policies and goals; the Board is comprised of up to eleven members, including parents and community members, and has several committees. Board meetings are public and typically occur about every six weeks. Join Us shows opportunities across many roles; the school employs over 130 full- and part-time staff, with salary scales and benefits published.

PAZ—Palabras Positivas (Positive Words), Acciones de Respeto (Respectful Actions), Zona de Aprendizaje (Learning Zone)—guides behavior for staff, students, and families.
