Founded in 1997 by Dr. Jacqueline Hoy, Lycée Franco-Américain International School began as an immersion program for Pre-K to 5th grade teaching in French and English. In 2018, Antonio Rodrigues became owner and head of school; he is a French citizen with an MBA from l'École Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées and is fluent in French, English, Spanish, and Portuguese. The school added the 6th grade in 2019, the 7th grade in 2020, and the 8th grade in 2021. It operates as a non-profit school funded by private funds, donations, and tuition.
Community events include a literary rendezvous in Cooper City for the Week of the French Language and Francophonie; the 2022 Semaine de la Langue Française et de la Francophonie ran March 12–20, 2022, and La Grande Lessive occurred in 2021. The school conducts field trips to venues such as the Broward County Courthouse and hosts visits by firefighters as part of its activities. It also hosts annual events like Carnival 2025 and Graduation 2025, and maintains a volunteering program for high school students, college students, and other community members.
Located at 8900 Stirling Road, Cooper City, Florida, Lycée Franco-Américain International School is a non-profit bilingual institution offering a bilingual French–American education from preschool through high school. Preschool follows Cycle 1 of the French curriculum, focusing on language development and exploration. Elementary education uses the Official French Elementary School Program with Cycle 2 and Cycle 3. Middle School is Le Collège (four years) and High School Le Lycée (three years), with Brevet des Collèges after year 9 and the Baccalauréat on graduation. The curriculum blends the French system with Florida standards. The school is affiliated with France through the Ministry of Education and AEFE, and has AISF accreditation for Preschool and Elementary levels.
