Newark Academy is a co-educational independent college preparatory day school in Livingston, New Jersey, founded in 1774. It was the first school in New Jersey and the only private school in the state to offer the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme. Serving grades 6-12, the school uses Harkness-style discussions with small class sizes. The curriculum is built around the Six Cs: critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, communication, character development, and cultural competency. Distinctive programmes include June Term, Capstone experiences, immersion trips, and off-campus study. The Newark Scholars Programme provides scholarship support. Nine students were named 2026 National Merit Semifinalists, and the Mock Trial team won Essex County Championships.
