The school provides highly individualized learning with a Personal Learning Plan and best-in-class teachers. The approach emphasizes innovative academics and a global education framework. The International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme is offered, with a DP core comprising Theory of Knowledge, Extended Essay and Creativity, Action and Service (CAS), and six subject groups including Studies in Language and Literature, World Languages, Individuals and Societies, Sciences, Mathematics, and The Arts. Languages include English, French, Mandarin and Spanish as part of the IB language offerings.
Fine Arts includes Visual Arts, Music & Performing Arts, and Media Arts. Visual Arts are offered from Pre-K through high school with options in 2D, 3D and digital media and opportunities to present work. Music and Performing Arts provide ensembles and performances across grade levels, including band, choir, orchestra, dance and musical theatre. Media Arts teaches film production, editing and storytelling with emphasis on digital literacy.
World Language - Spanish begins with three-year-old students, taught through songs, stories and play. The IB Diploma Programme offers French, Mandarin and Spanish with Ab Initio, SL or HL options. Intercultural understanding and respect are core IB values at Rancho Solano. Global-mindedness and respect for cultural and social diversity are emphasized as part of Rancho Solano's broader mission.
Middle and High School offer a broad range of clubs and activities, including board games, Model UN, National Junior Honor Society, debate and a variety of arts and media clubs. Student Government (STUGO) is student-elected and leads fundraisers and school events. High School clubs include National Art Honor Society, National Honors Society, Pegasus (the literary magazine) and Tri-M Music Honors Society. The Stang Gang supports athletic events and school spirit.
Philanthropy is a core part of the school, with service projects, fundraisers and volunteer opportunities. Community service is encouraged at all levels, with the 11th Grade service trip and club-driven initiatives. The school supports partner organizations such as Feed My Starving Children, Team Seas, Legacy Living Center, The Society of St. Vincent de Paul and PV Community Food Bank, and the Rehema Project in Kenya has received ongoing donations and program support.
Student leadership opportunities include STUGO (Student Government), National Honor Society, National Art Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, Model UN and Tri-M Music Honors Society. Mustang Mentors connect older students with younger Mustangs for guidance. Pre-med and Debate clubs offer further leadership and professional development opportunities. The arts and service organizations provide leadership roles for students as well.
Each campus has a full-time nurse and a school counselor to support physical and emotional wellbeing. Counselors assist students with academic, social and emotional growth and provide crisis management and resources for families. The health and wellness program emphasizes safety, wellbeing and health education and coordinates with families and outside providers.
Rancho Solano Preparatory School is a PK–12 private day school in Scottsdale, Arizona, with a Lower Campus for PreK–5 and Upper Campus for 6–12. The school serves ages 2 to 18 and operates as an international learning community defined by small class sizes and an inquiry-based curriculum. The Upper School offers the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme, with Higher Level and Standard Level courses, IB certificates, or non-IB electives. Beginning in fall 2025, 9th and 10th graders may choose College Prep or Honors core subjects, alongside existing options for 11th and 12th grades. Core subjects include English, Mathematics, Science, Social Sciences, and World Languages (French, Mandarin, Spanish) with IB options; World Languages are integrated with Fine Arts and Technology & Media Arts in the Upper School.
