History

Rancho Solano Preparatory School was founded in 1954 by the Bayer and Freesmeyer families, opening on the Missouri Campus. The Union Hills Campus was established in 1979, followed by the Greenway Campus in 1991 and the Gilbert Campus in 2003. In 2007 the school joined the Meritas International Family of Schools, and in 2008 the Union Hills Campus relocated to Hillcrest Campus with the inaugural upper-school class at Hillcrest. The Upper School was authorized as an International Baccalaureate Programme in 2010, and a new 6th–12th grade Middle & Upper School Campus opened in 2012, the same year the school joined SRPMIC. In 2017 RSPS joined York Education Group, and in 2024 RSPS joined International Schools Partnership (ISP).

Community

Rancho Solano PTO strengthens the school community by coordinating educational and community events, including teacher and student appreciation, meals for teachers, support for athletics and fine arts, clubs, and school or department requests. The PTO is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit funded through fundraising activities that benefit RSPS and its students. It comprises the Lower School PTO, Upper School PTO, and the Mustangs Athletic Booster Club, working with the Rancho Solano Leadership Team. All parents and guardians of RSPS students are welcome to attend PTO meetings and volunteer for activities.

Parent-Teacher Association

RSPS has a Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) that strengthens the school community. Rancho Solano PTO includes the Lower School PTO, Upper School PTO, and the Mustangs Athletic Booster Club, coordinating with the Rancho Solano Leadership Team. The organization is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that coordinates fundraising and supports teacher and student appreciation, meals, gifts, and curriculum-based items. All RSPS parents and guardians may attend PTO meetings and volunteer for activities. The PTO also provides avenues for donations and booster sponsorships to support school programs.

Rancho Solano Preparatory School is a PK–12 private day school in Scottsdale, Arizona, with a Lower Campus for PreK–5 and Upper Campus for 6–12. The school serves ages 2 to 18 and operates as an international learning community defined by small class sizes and an inquiry-based curriculum. The Upper School offers the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme, with Higher Level and Standard Level courses, IB certificates, or non-IB electives. Beginning in fall 2025, 9th and 10th graders may choose College Prep or Honors core subjects, alongside existing options for 11th and 12th grades. Core subjects include English, Mathematics, Science, Social Sciences, and World Languages (French, Mandarin, Spanish) with IB options; World Languages are integrated with Fine Arts and Technology & Media Arts in the Upper School. Facilities include a Student Activities Center/Gym, weight room, outdoor field, beach volleyball courts, and production lab. IT/STEM is integrated from Pre‑K, with iPads in every classroom and a science fair.
