Parent Experience

Community, involvement and what it's like to be a parent at this school

Community

Families come from across the globe, including the United States, Europe, Latin America, Israel and Africa, representing many denominations within Judaism. The school emphasizes enduring Jewish identity and values and a commitment to the State of Israel within a dual curriculum of General and Judaic Studies guided by Orthodox teachings. The Scheck Hillel Experience includes values-driven education that extends beyond the classroom through service learning and leadership, with a diverse community and tuition assistance available to nearly 20 percent of students. Scheck Hillel is one of the world's largest Jewish community day schools and a National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence.

Parent-Teacher Association

Our HIP/PTA (Hillel Involved Parents) brings families, teachers and administrators together to enrich the school community through programming and to raise funds to enhance the school environment. All Scheck Hillel parents are invited and encouraged to attend meetings, join committees and lend their support to help the school fulfill its mission. HIP/PTA has funded enhancements such as campus awnings, new theatre curtains, new flooring for the dining hall, CPR classes for parents, a hydroponic vegetable garden, PKT playground and outdoor furniture, plus band/orchestra production shells and art supplies. Ongoing funding supports Teacher Appreciation Day activities, scholarships for student trips, monthly adult learning classes, guest speakers and special programs, and campus enhancements. The HIP/PTA Executive Board includes Jennifer Naim (President), Ailyn Weisleder (Vice-President), Shana Russo (Treasurer), Lauren Faith (Secretary), and past presidents Susy Abbo and Gabrielle Schpilberg, among others.
