Extra-Curricular Activities

Clubs, activities, and opportunities to explore interests and passions

Academic and Intellectual

Creativity, Activity, and Service (CAS) is the framework through which students engage in service, artistic and active experiences. The CAS program includes Creativity, Activity, and Service strands; experiences must deliver real outcomes and involve reflection. ECA offers a variety of clubs and activities that incorporate sports, service learning, and creativity. The school is pursuing IB Middle Years Programme candidacy for 2026, with full implementation planned for the 2026-27 school year.

Arts and Creative

Arts and creative pursuits are integral to ECA's after-school offerings. Fee-based activities include art, music, dance, language, fitness, and knowledge. In Secondary School, theatre, music, and visual arts are highlighted as core forms of creative expression, with students described as thespians, musicians, and artists. Creativity and artistic performance are emphasized as part of the co-curricular program.

Cultural and Language

The IB program fosters intercultural understanding, a core aim of ECA's educational approach. ECA has students from more than 20 nations, creating a multinational community. Fee-based activities include language classes as part of after-school offerings.

Social and Hobbies

A variety of clubs and activities exist, including sports, service learning and creativity. The co-curricular program runs in three sessions from August to May, offering opportunities to pursue hobbies and athletic interests. Athletics are active after school and on weekends, with programmes designed to include all students.

Community and Service

The CAS program provides service experiences in addition to creative and active activities, enabling engagement with internal and external communities. CAS experiences must meet criteria including real outcomes, planning, and reflection. Activities involve service learning and community engagement as part of the school's IB framework.

Leadership and Professional

Leadership development is an explicit aim of the ECA experience; collaborative community members exercise leadership effectively and appropriately. Every Secondary School student belongs to a small advisory group with a dedicated advisor who helps set goals and monitor progress. College counseling supports US and international university admissions and career readiness, alongside ongoing guidance for personal and academic development.

Lifestyle and Wellbeing

Athletics are conducted after school and on weekends, with volleyball, basketball, soccer, and swimming as main offerings. ECA has extensive facilities including a full-size artificial turf field, a 25-meter pool, three tennis courts, a fitness room, and multiple gymnasiums. The Health Office is staffed with nurses on site, supporting student wellbeing, while counseling and guidance services address emotional and social development.
