BVIS HCMC opened in 2011, founded by Maurice and Rosie Nguyen of the BIS Group of Schools, with the aim of offering a bilingual international education rooted in Vietnamese culture. In 2015 the school joined the Nord Anglia Education family, expanding its global connections and resources. The school celebrates its 15th anniversary in the 2025–2026 academic year.
The school community hosts cultural events such as the traditional Tết Festival each year, fostering Vietnamese heritage alongside the bilingual curriculum. It also operates a “house system” (houses named Dalat, Hanoi, Hue and Saigon) to build smaller community groups within the student body. The calendar includes parent-seminars, grandparents’ day gatherings and family-friendly social occasions.
BVIS HCMC refers to a parent-group called “Friends of BVIS” (FoBVIS) which supports community events and acts as a link between families and school events. For example, Friends of BVIS invited parents to join a panel during principal selection and helped organise the Tết Festival activities. The parent-group welcomes volunteers of any level of involvement and assists in running parent-seminars and coffee mornings. It also helps maintain communication channels between staff, students and families, though a formal “PTA” committee structure (with specified officers) is not publicly detailed.
British Vietnamese International School Ho Chi Minh City (BVIS HCMC) is a bilingual, co-educational day school for ages 2–18 in Binh Hung, Binh Chanh District. Early Years and Primary combine the National Curriculum for England with Vietnamese, while Secondary progresses to Cambridge IGCSE and A Levels, with A Level study in Years 12–13 (ages 16–18). The school highlights a bilingual pathway in the younger years and confirms English as the language of instruction from Year 7. Students benefit from notable global collaborations: The Juilliard School supports dance, drama, and music, and MIT enriches STEAM through challenges and special events. Families can review the annual fee schedule online and use school bus services with set routes. The campus address and a Google Maps link are provided on the site for visits and tours.
