Wellbeing and Support

How students are nurtured, understood, and kept safe

Social and Emotional Learning (SEL)

EMASI describes its approach as holistic education that nurtures character, knowledge, physical wellbeing, emotional wellbeing, and overall potential. The EMASI Journey highlights the development of emotional intelligence through integrated arts education and a values-based framework. The arts collaboration with Nguyen Art Foundation supports students' emotional intelligence and aesthetic sensibilities. Student wellbeing is central, with nutritious meals, on-campus health services, and safe transport contributing to a supportive environment. A full-time School Counsellor provides counselling, and university application support complements social and emotional development alongside academics.

Special Educational Needs (SEN)

The school does not publicly disclose information regarding a formal Special Educational Needs (SEN) program or dedicated SEN staff. EMASI Nam Long offers Student Support Services that include on-campus health, counselling, dining, and transportation to support students' daily learning and overall wellbeing. A full-time School Counsellor is available to provide counselling and bespoke provision to students. An EAL Support Teacher is listed among EMASI staff, indicating language support for learners who are English language learners.

English as an Additional Language (EAL)

EMASI provides English as an Additional Language (EAL) support through dedicated staff, including an EAL Support Teacher. The faculty page lists an EAL Support Teacher and an EAL Teacher as part of the EMASI community. The Cambridge English program is offered in addition to the Vietnamese MOET curriculum, with an intensive English component and up to about 25% more English hours per week. The bilingual learning pathway integrates Cambridge and MOET curricula across Kindergarten to High School, reinforcing English language development in context. EMASI's EAL provisions are embedded within the bilingual framework rather than as a separate standalone program.

Mental Wellbeing

EMASI's mission emphasizes holistic development that includes physical and emotional wellbeing. The student experience is supported by on-campus health services and nutritious dining, as part of Student Support Services. A full-time School Counsellor provides counselling, with additional university application support to assist transitions. The curriculum supports physical and mental health through dedicated Physical Education and wellbeing-focused learning environments. The Vision likewise stresses balanced development in character, knowledge, physical and mental health, and competencies.

Safeguarding

EMASI maintains a Child Protection Policy that guides staff and families on health, safety, and care of children, with aims to develop a safe and healthy school environment. The policy includes age-appropriate personal safety lessons, parent information sessions, and annual staff training to recognise and report abuse or neglect. A downloadable EMASI Child Protection Policy and Handbook is available. The safeguarding framework is reflected in EMASI Plus communications as part of its broader safety and welfare commitments.

The school delivers a bilingual program that integrates the Vietnamese MOET national curriculum with the Cambridge International Framework, from Kindergarten (age 2) through High School, and is fully accredited by WASC. English and Vietnamese are the core languages of instruction, supported by Cambridge English qualifications and MOET Vietnamese studies. Curricula span MOET, Cambridge Primary, Lower Secondary, IGCSE, and A-Levels, creating a two-pathway, bilingual educational experience. The program emphasizes Arts and Music (Nguyen Art Foundation collaboration), STEM, ICT, and physical education, and it offers a broad extracurricular program including academic enrichment, sports, and performing arts. EMASI Plus Waterpoint provides boarding facilities as part of the EMASI network.
