Shattuck-St. Mary2s International School Vietnam (SSM Vietnam) carries the 167-year legacy of Shattuck-St. Mary2s School in Minnesota, which was founded in 1858. SSM Vietnam was founded in 2023 in Hai Phong to bring the Shattuck model to Vietnam. The school opened to students on August 15, 2025, marking its official launch. It operates under Shattuck-St. Mary2s Educational Services and follows a U.S.-standards-based curriculum with signature programs such as weCreate and ScholarShift. In January 2026, Hai Phong authorities ordered the school to suspend enrollment pending licensing approvals.
SSM Vietnam describes itself as a kind, warm community and a central gathering place for families and friends. The campus highlights access to facilities such as a golf driving range, an indoor swimming pool, tennis courts, and basketball courts that support campus life and community use. Student leadership and clubs contribute to a sense of belonging, with groups such as the Saber Council/Sabers
Council appearing in campus communications. The community emphasizes family involvement and events that connect students, families, and staff.
SSM Vietnam participates in a Parents Association (PA) as part of the broader Shattuck-St. Mary2s network. The PA welcomes parent involvement with no dues and no mandatory meetings, inviting participation in various activities. Monthly PA meetings are scheduled to plan family weekends, staff appreciation, and student-support initiatives, including programs such as Sabre Surprise care packages. The PA teams coordinate campus decorations and celebrations, and it serves as a channel for parents to stay informed and connected with school leadership. Across the SSM network, PA activities illustrate a model of active parent engagement that complements the school2s academic and community programs.
