The Italian School of Lusaka is a Cambridge Assessment International Examinations Centre and a Cambridge Professional Development Centre. The A Level programme was added in 2015, and the IGCSE curriculum provides internationally recognized qualifications with a strong foundation. The school is a Duke of Edinburgh International Award- Zambia Unit. It is a member of the Independent Schools Association of Zambia (ISAZ).
Student Life includes clubs such as Cookery, Dancing, Computer Skills, Art & Craft, Electronics, Chess, and Music. Art & Culture is an integral component of education. The Italian School collaborates with the Zambian-Italian Cultural Centre to host annual events with visiting Italian artists who offer engaging artistic workshops. Field trips include Italy.
Italian is taught from the Reception class through Grade 11. In the Primary years, learners engage in Italian lessons and gradually gain familiarity with the language, while in the Secondary section they consolidate the basics and are introduced to Italian culture, society and history. All Italian teachers are Italian native speakers. The Senior High section includes a trip to Italy, and the school collaborates with the Zambian-Italian Cultural Centre to organize annual events with visiting Italian artists who run workshops.

Duke of Edinburgh Award is offered; Bronze level is introduced at end of Grade 9, and the school runs training for the expedition. The school is a registered Duke of Edinburgh Award Unit, and the program generally takes about a year to complete, finishing in Grade 10.
