About international schools in Austria
American-curriculum international schools in Austria are English-medium, US-style K - 12 programmes that generally prepare students for university with an American high-school diploma and - in many cases - additional internationally recognised qualifications such as the IB Diploma; they also provide regular German as the host-country language. These schools are concentrated mainly in Vienna, where demand is driven by diplomatic and international organisations, with a smaller presence elsewhere including an American boarding option in Salzburg. Annual costs vary widely by school and by age, but many established private international schools in Vienna place tuition in a mid-to-high five-figure euro band with separate application, enrolment, capital assessment, transport and lunch charges adding to first-year costs. Admissions normally require an application form, recent school reports and passport copies, and often include an entrance assessment or interview; offers are secured with a deposit and families should contact schools early ahead of the August/September intake.
