Admissions	Admissions ACS Athens accepts applications throughout the academic year. The Application Process at a glance includes five steps: Step 1: Submit an Application Form for each applicant with the required documents and pay a non-refundable application fee of 100€ for the first child and 50€ for each additional child. Step 2: Submit required documentation. Step 3: Arrange Admissions Testing for Grades 6-12 or Interview/Assessment for Grades PJ-5. Step 4: The Application file is reviewed by the Admissions Committee and decisions are communicated by email. Step 5: Registration and scheduling after admission. Admissibility is determined by how well the student aligns with the school's academic standards and space availability; factors include prior academic history, disciplinary or socio-emotional issues, and classroom size. ACS Athens reserves the right to deny admission if the needs cannot be met. All applicants entering Grades 6-12 must take English and Math tests (on campus or online). English proficiency by grade is: Grade 6: CEFR A2; Grade 7: A2; Grade 8: B1; Grade 9: B1; Grade 10: B2; Grades 11-12: C1. The U.S. High School Diploma can be awarded to transfer students who have spent at least two years in the American education system. Academic credit transfer allows up to seven credits per grade level for transfers into Grades 9-10. Based on the year level and language proficiency, testing and screening for placement purposes will take different forms, including, but not limited to, consideration of academic performance records, a personal interview, school readiness testing, literacy and numeracy proficiency testing and a review of previous special needs documentation and health records. Within this framework, admission is based on: interview with the candidate; candidate's performance in diagnostic assessment tasks, designed according to age and grade requirements; candidate's previous academic records, where applicable; a pedagogical report completed by the candidate's current teacher(s)/school, where applicable; a signed declaration by at least one of the parents/guardians of the candidate, which is GDPR compliant and would inform the school of all known or diagnosed special educational needs, is required. Accordingly, professional evaluations, along with details of extra educational, emotional and/or social support the candidate is receiving, should also be provided at the time of application. Failure to provide the required documentation in due time may result in the cancellation of admission. Admission decisions: All applications are reviewed by the Admissions Committee, which consists of the head of the level for which the candidate is applying, programme coordinators, Head of Admissions office and representatives from CGS School Counseling Department (SCD). Special consideration is given to eligible applicants who are siblings of currently enrolled students and to CGS staff and CGS alumni families. However, an offer is not guaranteed, as it is subject to standard Admissions procedure. CGS reserves the right to decide against proceeding with the enrollment of a candidate in consideration of learning support resources' availability and in accordance with the school's Policies. In case significant social / emotional / behavioral issues or learning differences arise during the enrollment process at the school, there will be close consultation with parents, and it is possible that accommodations, to allow the student to enroll at CGS may be required. Consequently, additional costs for this service may be incurred. This review may also involve requiring parents to seek external evaluation by an external body. In case the Admissions Committee determines that CGS is unable to support a student's needs, or if parents are unwilling to proceed with the student's evaluation, CGS reserves the right to terminate the enrollment procedure. Once the application is complete, including receipt of school records and confidential recommendations (previous academic records, pedagogical reports, etc.), offers are formally made either via telephone or e-mail within two weeks. Confirmation of offer & enrollment: Offers for admission are to be accepted or rejected by candidate families within one week of receipt by contacting the Admissions office. Once the offer has been accepted, parents will be sent an acceptance letter as well as a Registration Approval Form (RAF). In order to confirm enrollment and reserve a place for the admitted applicant, completion of the RAF and payment of the registration fee (in accordance with the school's fees) are due within 10 days of receipt of the acceptance letter. These commitments must be made on a timely basis so that we guarantee that places are held for admitted applicants who indeed wish to enroll, or we may allocate places to other candidates in the wait pool. Partial refunds are made within specific deadlines in accordance with the school's fee policy. Class Placement: It is our policy to make initial tentative placements of students in classes for the coming year, according to a set of clear and fairly managed criteria, which include: Academic range and balance; Balance between new and returning students; Behaviour issues; Friendships / optimal peer relationships; Gender (in order to maintain a balance in the class); Size of the class; Special needs requirements within the class; Teacher's professional judgement / experience / detailed knowledge of child, considering academic and personal abilities and needs. These recommendations are given very careful consideration by the teachers and will remain tentative until after the arrival and assessment of new students is completed at the commencement of the next year. Reserved places: Special consideration is given to eligible applicants who are siblings of currently enrolled students and the offspring of CGS alumni. Nevertheless, admission is not automatic, and it is dependent on the number of applicants and the number of spaces available in each particular grade, as well as the qualifications of each applicant. Wait pool: When the number of eligible applicants exceeds the availability of spaces for a particular grade, students may be placed in a wait pool until a place becomes available. Effort is made to keep parents of applicants in the wait pool updated regarding enrollment status and to confirm whether they wish to remain in the wait pool. Review process of CGS whole-school admissions policy: The CGS whole-school Admissions policy has been reviewed following discussions among Programme Coordinators, Principals, Head of School Counseling Department, Head of Admissions office and the Head of school. The review process was completed in June 2022. Tuition fee: Tuition Fees \| Academic Year 2025 - 2026. Pre-K4/IB PYP (4-5 years) 8,400 €; Kindergarten/IB PYP (5-6 years) 8,400 €; Primary School / IB PYP (Grade 1-6) 8,500 € per grade; Junior High School / IB MYP (Grade 7-9) 8,980 € per grade; Senior High School (Grade 10-12) 8,980–9,200 € per grade; IB Diploma Programme (Year 1) 13,600 €, (Year 2) 13,300 €; Transportation (2025-2026) listed by zone; Food Service options and weekly rates are provided. Scholarships	Scholarships The Christos M. Perakis Academic Scholarship exists at ACS Athens. Eligibility requires admission to ACS Athens before scholarship consideration. Criteria include academic excellence with a GPA of 3.5 or 18 and above; Greek school attendance and Greek citizenship; Fluent in English; Demonstrates leadership; intends to pursue studies abroad in Global Management, Communications or Computer Sciences; Demonstrates conscious citizenship; Demonstrates financial need; Provides a personal statement; Finalists participate in an in-person interview. This scholarship refers to the 2026-2027 academic year (begins September 2026) and is for high school students only (grades 9-12). It can be applied toward tuition at ACS Athens.	Scholarships Financial Aid and Scholarship Fund: CGS is offering academic scholarships for the academic year 2026-27. The scholarships are awarded to students who will be attending A' Gymnasium / MYP2, A' Lyceum / MYP5 and the IB Diploma Programme for the academic year 2026-2027. A maximum of 5 Full Scholarships for A' Gymnasium / MYP2; A maximum of 2 Full Scholarships for A' Lyceum / MYP5; 1 Full and a maximum of 3 Partial Scholarships for the IB Diploma Programme. The granting of a Full Scholarship requires an average score of 80% or higher and success in the personal interview (the student profile is consistent with the International Baccalaureate definition for students attending its programmes). The granting of a Partial Scholarship (30%-80%) requires an average score of 60% or higher (the top 10 candidates with the highest score of over 60%) and success in the personal interview (the student profile is consistent with the International Baccalaureate definition for students attending its programmes). Date of Scholarship Exams (Written component): Sunday 7th March 2026. Deadline for submission of application: Tuesday 3rd March 2026. Arrival Time: 8:30-9:00 a.m. Start Time: 9:30 a.m. Duration of Written Exams: 3 hours (1 hour per subject). Candidates will be assessed in the following courses: A' Gymnasium / MYP2: Mathematics (1 hour), Modern Greek Language (1 hour), English (1 hour). IB Diploma Programme (Subjects Duration): English (Part A: Reading Comprehension; Part B: Composition) 1 hour; Mathematics (Part A: 8-10 MCQs; Part B: 4-5 analytical exercises) 1 hour; Critical thinking test (5 MC exercises in English) 30 minutes. Candidates are not tested on specific material; the applicant's previous study should suffice. To participate, applicants must complete the Academic Scholarship Application Form and submit it with the required documents to the Financial Aid and Scholarship Fund by 1pm Tuesday 3 March 2026.
