Application fees
- No application or enrollment fee is charged for admission to Liceo de Puriscal. Public basic and secondary education in Costa Rica is provided without mandatory enrollment or tuition charges.
Tuition fees (by year group and per term)
- Séptimo año: No tuition; no per-term tuition charged.
- Octavo año: No tuition; no per-term tuition charged.
- Noveno año: No tuition; no per-term tuition charged.
- Décimo año: No tuition; no per-term tuition charged.
- Undécimo año / Bachillerato (incluye programa de Bachillerato Internacional si aplica): No tuition; no per-term tuition charged.
Billing schedule and payment terms
- There is no regular billing schedule for tuition because the institution does not charge tuition.
- Voluntary contributions, activity fees or payments for specific programs/activities (for example field trips, extracurricular events, materials for special workshops) may be collected on an occasional basis; such collections are managed locally and must be voluntary and transparently administered. When collected, those payments are scheduled according to the activity (one-off, per term, or per event) and the school's or Patronato's published instructions.
Boarding fees
- Boarding is not applicable. Liceo de Puriscal operates as a day secondary school and does not charge boarding fees.
Other costs and typical additional fees
- Uniforms and clothing: Parents are expected to provide the standard school uniform and basic clothing required for daily attendance and official activities; purchase is an ordinary out‑of‑pocket cost for families. Schools commonly require uniforms but any charges associated with uniforms are handled directly by families or by voluntary school-organized sales.
- School supplies and textbooks: Families are typically responsible for required textbooks, notebooks and basic supplies. These are normal one‑time or annual household expenses.
- Voluntary Patronato or classroom funds: Parent associations (Patronatos or juntas) commonly request voluntary contributions to support extracurricular activities, maintenance, materials or special projects; such contributions are voluntary and must be transparently managed in a dedicated bank account.
- Field trips, lab fees, competitions and extracurricular program fees: Any fees for these are charged on an event-by-event basis and are not equivalent to tuition; payment is required only for participation in the optional/activity that generates the cost.
- Transportation and meals: Transportation costs (if a family arranges private transport) or meal costs are the family's responsibility. State transportation subsidies or programs exist for eligible students in some cases, but they do not represent a tuition charge.
Refund information
- Because there is no tuition charged, there is no tuition‑refund policy for regular school fees. Refund handling for voluntary or event‑specific payments (for example trips, extracurricular registrations or materials fees) is decided by the organizing body (school administration or Patronato) and should be communicated at the time of collection; such collections must follow the Ministry's rules on transparency and proper accounting.
Fee payment options
- For the routine relationship with the school there are no tuition payments to process. When voluntary contributions or event fees are collected, typical payment methods used by public schools and their Patronatos include cash payments and bank deposits/transfers to the Patronato's dedicated bank account; the Patronato must maintain transparent accounting and a bank account for managed funds. Acceptance of credit/debit card payments or electronic point‑of‑sale varies by school and is not a standardized requirement.
