School fees (academic year 2026/27)
- The standard tuition and boarding charge is 3,150 DKK per week for a 42-week school year, giving a tuition/boarding total of 132,300 DKK for the full year.
- A non-refundable registration fee of 1,500 DKK is payable on registration to reserve a place.
- A non-refundable school fee (deposit) of 4,000 DKK is payable on signing the enrolment contract to officially confirm the place. (The school notes that from the 2027/28 academic year this non-refundable school fee will be 5,000 DKK.)
- The total payable for the 2026/27 school year including the registration fee and the school fee deposit is 137,800 DKK (132,300 DKK + 1,500 DKK + 4,000 DKK).
Tuition breakdown and structure (per week / per year / instalment examples)
- Fee structure is the same for students attending the standard 42-week efterskole year; there are no separate published tuition bands by age or year group—fees are presented as a single weekly rate and a single annual total.
- Weekly charge: 3,150 DKK. Annual (42 weeks): 132,300 DKK.
- Typical instalment approach: payments are normally divided into 12 instalments, with the first payment due approximately two months before the start of the school year; alternative options of 3-, 6- or 12-month instalments are available. All payments must be made in advance. (As an illustration only: if the annual fee is paid in 12 equal instalments, each instalment would be approximately 11,025 DKK.)
Billing schedule and payment terms
- All payments must be made in advance. Families choose the number of instalments (commonly 12). The first instalment is normally due about two months before the start of the school year. Alternative instalment plans (3, 6, or 12 months) can be used for international transfers.
- The school may withdraw the registration fee immediately when it is paid and will not deduct fees if a family is placed on a waiting list.
Boarding fees
- Boarding (accommodation and meals) is included in the published weekly/annual fee; there is no separate published “boarding-only” charge. The published price covers board (meals), accommodation and related residential services as part of the full-year fee.
Other costs and additional fees
- World Trips: additional World Trip options cost between 0 and 18,000 DKK depending on destination; one World Trip option is included in the standard school fee (pocket money excluded). World Trip payments are non-refundable.
- Surf profile elective: an additional fee of 6,000 DKK per student applies if Surfing is chosen; this covers transport to/from Hvide Sande, tuition and board rental. Winter wetsuits, gloves and boots are not included and must be provided by the student.
- Clothing package: a clothing package (including sportswear and a backpack) is included in the standard price.
- The standard price also covers teaching materials, examination fees, meals, weekend programmes, and included trips in Denmark and Europe. The only regular extra-fee activities called out are certain overseas trips and the Surf elective.
Refund, cancellation and termination rules
- The registration fee (1,500 DKK) is non-refundable. The school fee/deposit (4,000 DKK) is non-refundable. World Trip extra payments are non-refundable.
- Termination fee: if the stay is terminated before the end of the school year, a termination fee of 8,000 DKK is payable. This termination fee applies whether termination is initiated by the school or by the family. A student may avoid paying the termination fee by giving four weeks' notice before leaving; payment for those four weeks of schooling is still required.
What is included in the published price
- Board (meals per day), accommodation, tuition, teaching materials and examination fees, a clothing package (sportswear and a backpack), introductory trip in August, European trip in September, graduation/outro trip in June, weekend activities and other standard campus programmes. There is no additional cost for weekend stays.
Government subsidies and scholarships
- Danish government efterskole subsidies may be available to Danish citizens (including those living abroad) and to non-Danish families legally resident in Denmark; subsidies are means-tested and vary with household income. Families should verify eligibility for government support; the school does not offer other forms of financial support beyond those public subsidies.
Fee payment methods
- Accepted card payments: VISA-Dankort, VISA and Mastercard. Card payments are processed through an approved, encrypted payment server (SSL). The school's terms state the right to withdraw the registration fee immediately when a card payment is made. No other specific payment methods (e.g., bank transfer details) are published on the school's fee pages; families may use the instalment options described by arrangement.
Notes
- Prices may vary from year to year. The school specifies the 3,150 DKK per week / 132,300 DKK per year figure for the 2026/27 academic year and highlights the non-refundable elements, optional extra costs (World Trips and Surf elective), the typical instalment options, and the termination fee rules.
