Saint Joseph School is run daily by an Academic Director, while the Board of Directors—composed of community members—governs the school under the mandate of the Saint Joseph School Board of Trustees. Ownership has been held by the Board of Trustees since 2004. Saint Joseph School follows a U.S.-type college preparatory curriculum in English. It is accredited by the Dominican Republic Ministry of Education since 1999 and by Cognia (AdvancED). It complies with Dominican Ministry curriculum requirements by offering a Spanish language and Dominican social studies program. The school is organized into three divisions: Early Education (Toddlers I - Kindergarten), Elementary (Grades 1-6), and High School (Grades 7-12). 1. Step 1: Admissions Requirements. Saint Joseph School invites families to visit during Open House dates or schedule a private orientation to learn about the programs. Families may start the application process as early as September of the previous school year. They must fill out the application forms and gather the listed documents to be considered for admissions. The documents include: Pre-Registration Form; one 2x2 student photo; Family Interview Form; Recommendation Form; copies of the most recent report card and the previous school year; copies of the ID cards or guardians' IDs (passport if foreigner); copy of the student's birth certificate; the US$30 application fee for the admissions evaluation; and for new families from abroad, a certificate of good conduct or letter of employment. This evaluation can be scheduled remotely for international families yet to arrive in the Dominican Republic. 6. After completing the above, the admissions committee will meet and provide a formal recommendation. 7. Age Requirements. CMS begins in Pre-Kinder for 4-year-olds, Kindergarten for 5-year-olds, and first grade for 6-year-olds; students must turn the required age before September 1 of the enrolling school year. 8. Class Sizes. Pre-Kinder: a maximum of 17 students per class; Kindergarten: a maximum of 18 students per class; Grades 1-5: a maximum of 22 students per class; Grades 6-12: a maximum of 22 students per class.
