The International British School is a British international school in Kuwait serving ages 3 to 18. It follows the English National Curriculum and offers Cambridge IGCSE, Cambridge International AS Levels, Cambridge A Levels, and Pearson Edexcel IGCSE. Arabic (First and Second Language), Kuwait Social Studies, and French are part of the core curriculum, and Islam is compulsory for Muslim students. The Kuwait Ministry of Private Education approves the school, and the UK Government Inspectorate has approved it to inspect British international schools since March 2019. It is a member of the British Schools of the Middle East and a partner of the British Council. The English School Kuwait City is a not-for-profit, British-curriculum school for ages 3 to 16. It follows the Early Years Foundation Stage (3–5) and the National Curriculum for England (5–16), with English as the language of instruction. Arabic and French are taught; Arabic for Arabs and Islamic Studies are mandatory from Year 1, and Arabic for non-Arabs begins in Year 3; Kuwaiti Social Studies is taught from Year 5. Founded in 1953 under the British Embassy, it was Kuwait's first British-curriculum preparatory school and remains owned by the Al-Bahar family. The school prepares pupils to transfer to UK and international schools and operates on a not-for-profit model. The campus hosts a Performing Arts Centre for productions and events, extensive arts, music and ICT facilities, three science laboratories, and a dedicated Science and Technology Building opened in 2024. The library houses about 23,000 items; Bedouin Tent and a broad ECA programme extend learning beyond lessons. About 53 nationalities are represented; roughly 30% are British and over 60% come from native English-speaking countries. The Upper School expanded in 2025 with over 715 pupils.
LFK is a private, multicultural French school in Kuwait, homologated by the French Ministry of Education and AEFE-partner. The curriculum follows the French national program with a bilingual dimension culminating in the Baccalauréat Français International (BFI). From maternelle to Terminale, language learning is integrated, with PARLE and EMILE supporting early language development; PARLE continues in collège, and lycée students may pursue the BFI and, from 2025, the English-language European Section.
