The American International School of Vilnius Upper School is an English-medium, co-educational day school for students in Grades 6–12. AISV was founded in 1993 and operates its Upper School campus at Subačiaus Street 41 in Vilnius Old Town. Students in Grades 6–10 follow an American and international standards-based curriculum built around inquiry, projects and subject-specific skills. Grades 11–12 may complete the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme. Lithuanian language and culture are included, while students can also select French, German or Spanish. Upper School facilities include science laboratories, art and music rooms, a professional recording studio, 3D printers, a gym, climbing walls, a fitness room and an outdoor sports field. A distinctive part of student life is the combination of the IB programme with National Honor Societies, Model United Nations, INTERACT, student councils and community-service projects. After-school options include robotics, programming, science, theatre, ceramics, journalism and several team sports.

Application and Admission Fees

- Application fee (all grades): €428. This fee is payable upon receipt of a new student's application and is non-refundable.
- Admission fee (one-time for newly admitted students, all grades): €2,707. This fee is charged once at first admission and is non-refundable.
- Capital fee (annual, all grades): €2,498. This special-purpose annual contribution is payable at the beginning of each school year and is non-refundable.

Enrollment Deposit

- Place-guarantee deposit (to secure a place for the following school year): Pre‑K: €1,000; Kindergarten–Grade 12: €2,500. The deposit is non-refundable and is credited toward the last attended quarter's tuition fee for the upcoming school year.
- For Pre‑K students, the Application Fee and the Admission Fee are split and payable in instalments of €1,567.50 over the first two years for Pre‑K placements.

Billing schedule and payment terms

- Tuition invoicing: invoices are issued after the signed Enrollment Agreement is returned. Families choose billing frequency on the Enrollment Agreement. Payments can be scheduled quarterly, by semester, or annually; other references on payment frequency (e.g., trimester or semi‑annual) are also used in published fee guidance — the Enrollment Agreement and invoice indicate the family's chosen schedule. Tuition must be paid in Euros.
- Payment method for tuition: tuition payments must be made in Euros by wire transfer. No student academic record will be released until overdue tuition and other obligations are paid in full.
- Timing: when paying by instalments (quarterly or otherwise), each instalment must be received by the school on or before the date shown on the invoice for that instalment.
- Late payment and non‑payment: overdue invoices incur late fees and escalation. A late fee of 0.1% per day is assessed on overdue invoices; if invoices remain overdue for 60 days the school may restrict attendance and pursue collection measures.

Boarding

- AISV is a private day school; boarding is not provided. No boarding fees apply.

Other costs and typical ancillary fees

- Learning support (2026/27 schedule): Basic/Foundational support €2,500; Standard support €6,500; Individualized support €10,000 to €30,000 (case‑by‑case). Additional learning‑support tiers or individualized plans carry separate fee arrangements.

- PE uniform: students in Grades 1–10 are required to wear the AISV PE uniform for physical education; purchase cost for PE uniform items is separate and not listed as part of tuition. Refund information and withdrawal terms

- Application fee, admission fee, and capital fee are non‑refundable. The place‑guarantee deposit is non‑refundable but is credited toward the last attended quarter's tuition for the following school year.
- Withdrawal notice: families leaving during the school year must provide written notice in advance (the Enrollment Agreement and handbook set the required notice); the Community Handbook requires six weeks' written notice for withdrawal. If a student leaves during the school year, tuition paid for the current quarter is not reimbursed. Students withdrawing after the published mid‑spring cutoff in the Handbook are typically required to pay tuition for the entire school year. - Primary payment method for tuition and school fees: wire transfer in Euros (bank transfer). Instalment frequency is selected on the Enrollment Agreement (quarterly, semester, or annual options).
- Canteen and on‑campus purchases: canteen payments may be made by transfer to the caterer's Swedbank account, by cash or personal payment card at the canteen for older students, or by canteen Paysera e‑card top‑ups for younger students.
- Invoice and record hold: the school will withhold student academic records until outstanding financial obligations (tuition, missing textbooks, library fines, etc.) are settled. Late fees apply to overdue amounts.

Food Options

Meals at AISV are provided by the catering company 'Voverės' with a diverse menu including regular and vegetarian options. For Pre-K to Grade 1, lunch is ordered monthly with advance payment. Grades 6–12 students can order meals at the canteen, which is open daily from 9:00 to 15:00 and offers hot meals with a side dish (5.00–5.50 EUR) and soups (1.40–1.60 EUR). Payments can be made with cash or a Paysera e-card; Paysera cards can be purchased at the canteen (8:00–14:00). Governance and Ownership

AISV is governed by a School Board. The Governors General Meeting owns AISV and AISV is incorporated in Delaware, USA. The Board includes ex-officio members: the Ambassador of the United States Embassy in Vilnius (or designee) with voting rights; The Director, Deputy Director, Business Manager and the President of the Parent School Association are board members without voting rights. AISV subscribes to the Principles of the National Association of Independent Schools for good governance.

Curriculum

AISV delivers an inquiry-driven, standards-based college-preparatory curriculum for PreK2 through Grade 12. It combines an American and international standards-based framework and is an IB World School offering the IB Diploma Programme for grades 11–12. AISV is fully accredited by NEASC and CIS. The Lower School campus opened in 2022 at Srovės gatvė 19, and the Upper School campus is at Subačiaus gatvė 41, with two campuses supporting NHS, NJHS and a broad program. The curriculum emphasizes social-emotional learning and 21st-century skills across subjects, with English as the language of instruction and dedicated college and career counseling to help with university admissions.

Exam Results

In May 2025, 24 AISV graduates completed the IB Diploma Programme with an 80% pass rate. The average score was 33 (world average 30.58). The average course grade for diploma recipients was 5.32, the highest score reached 39, and three graduates earned the Bilingual Diploma.

Higher Education Progression

AISV provides dedicated college and career counseling to help students gain admission to universities worldwide, aligning with the IB Diploma Programme and supporting pathways to U.S. and international universities.

Social and Emotional Learning (SEL)

AISV integrates social-emotional learning (SEL) as an integrated part of the curriculum. In subject-area and Community Life classes, students develop self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, responsible decision-making, goal setting, empathy, and a growth mindset. The school prioritizes students' well-being within a safe and welcoming learning environment, and SEL is supported by a comprehensive after-school activities program and college and career counseling to support social and emotional development.

English as an Additional Language (EAL)

AISV recognizes English language learners (ELL). Students entering AISV with limited English are tested (K-11) to determine placement in intensive ELL support. The ELL program provides five weekly sessions for Grades K-5 during Language Arts and during the Foreign Language block for Grades 4-11. The aim is to enable students to acquire or improve English communication and to participate independently in the academic program.

Mental Wellbeing

AISV emphasizes student mental well-being as a core part of the learning experience. Social-emotional learning is integrated across the curriculum, fostering skills such as self-awareness, self-management, empathy, and growth mindset to support personal and academic growth.

Safeguarding

AISV provides safeguarding and child protection resources, including a Parent Safeguarding handbook and community handbooks. The school has a Child Safeguarding Policy aligned with CEESA standards to protect students and ensure safe and supportive school environments.

Admissions

1. Complete the Online Application form and the Online Teacher Evaluation form. Upload previous school records and progress reports in English for the past two academic years, and upload a copy of personal information (passport-size photograph, child's passport, or birth certificate). The Application Fee of €410 is payable upon receipt of the new student's application form and is non-refundable; payment does not guarantee admission. 2. Once the application and required forms are completed, the applicant will be considered for admission. Acceptance to AISV is conditional, and each candidate will be evaluated based on information gathered during the enrollment process. AISV can provide educational services for a carefully managed number of students with a range of physical, academic, or emotional needs, but resources for special needs are limited. If information is withheld or not provided, AISV reserves the right to decline enrollment or terminate the enrollment agreement. 3. If admission is approved, the Admissions Office will notify the parents and send them the Enrollment Agreement for signing. AISV accepts students throughout the year as long as there are places available and a suitable program of study can be offered. The Admissions Office may request additional information as needed to finalize enrollment. 4. Entrance age guidelines apply for Nursery through Grade 12. Nursery must be at least 18 months old by September 1. PK3 must be at least 3 years old by September 1 and toilet-trained. PK4 must be at least four years old by September 1 and toilet-trained. Kindergarten is 5, Grade 1 is 6, Grade 2 is 7, Grade 3 is 8, Grade 4 is 9, Grade 5 is 10, Grade 6 is 11, Grade 7 is 12, Grade 8 is 13, Grade 9 is 14, Grade 10 is 15, Grade 11 is 16, Grade 12 is 17. AISV may consider exceptions to the age policy based on references from the previous school and initial assessment results. The grade placement is based on age and past records. AISV admits students regardless of race, sex, religion, physical ability, sexual orientation, gender expression, national or ethnic origin. The program is challenging and requires motivation and commitment from every student.

Scholarships

The Scholarship program for Kinder - Grade 12 provides limited tuition reduction opportunities for outstanding English-speaking students who demonstrate financial need and have a proven record of scholarship and citizenship to attend and enrich AISV. To be considered, applicants must have already submitted an AISV application and must provide the confidential financial form and all listed documents to the AISV Director no later than April 1, 2026. AISV is expanding scholarship opportunities for the 2026–2027 school year for Kinder–Grade 5, designed for highly motivated English-language learners; students with developing English skills may also apply. Documents required include a letter of request, the AISV Confidential Financial Assistance Form with all supporting financial documents, official transcripts showing two previous years of academic records, letters of reference, copies of standardized test results, copies of academic honors, lists of extracurricular activities, and any other documentation indicating academic ability. All financial documents are confidential and reviewed by the Scholarship Advisory Committee. The application fee described above applies to tuition-reduction applications and is non-refundable. The deadline for the packet is 1 April of the preceding year; the School Director will determine if the application should be reviewed by the Scholarship Advisory Committee. Awardees must accept within one week of notification, and guardians are responsible for all student needs beyond the tuition-reduction grant. Awardees must sign the Scholarship Agreement along with the Enrollment Agreement and maintain scholastic achievement to continue eligibility. The Scholarship Advisory Committee, comprising the School Director, the Admissions Director, and the Business Manager, reviews applications in April and presents them to the Board for approval; interviews may be requested for potential awardees. New students are considered for scholarships as applications are received.
