Careers Counsellors provide a counselling service and a career education program to equip students with knowledge, skills and opportunities across courses and careers; one-on-one appointments are offered for Years 10–12, with group sessions highlighting tertiary institutions, prerequisites and pathways. Lectures and seminars acquaint students with courses offered by Victorian, Australian and international tertiary institutions. The school also offers the possibility of studying one or more first-year university subjects during the senior years in partnership with tertiary institutions, as part of accelerated VCE studies.
General Excellence Scholarships are offered to high-achieving students across entry years; recipients commit to activities related to their chosen field and may receive partial remission of tuition fees up to 75% through Year 12. Selection criteria require demonstrated excellence across at least three fields (Academic, Leadership/Service, Sport, Arts); selection includes a scholarship test and interview.
Caulfield Grammar School uses CaulfieldCARES as a school-wide framework to support a positive school climate and wellbeing. Visible Wellbeing is integrated into learning through See, Hear and Feel practices. Holistic pastoral care provides proactive, individualised support in collaboration with staff, Student Services and families. The five School Values—Pursuing Excellence, Inspiring Creativity, Thriving Together, Embracing Diversity and Living Wholeheartedly—drive attitudes, behaviours and decisions across the school community. Students belong to a House, fostering belonging, identity and connectedness.
The Learning Strategies Department supports individual student needs with remediation, offered in small groups or one-on-one with teachers experienced in the field. Collaboration between teachers, students and parents is central to this approach. Heads of House, Learning Strategies and Student Services work with Counselling, Chaplaincy and Careers to provide a network of care for learners with diverse needs.
English as an Additional Language (EAL) is offered for international students and replaces ESL for eligible students. EAL is delivered through English language classes and related programs. The Academic Handbooks (including 2025 and 2026 editions) document the EAL provision.
Mental wellbeing is central to the school's approach, with Visible Wellbeing embedded in teaching and learning. CaulfieldCARES supports a positive wellbeing culture, and dedicated pastoral care helps students develop emotional resilience. The Thrive Curriculum for Years 7–12 and Community Life periods promote healthy identities, relationships and goal-setting, underscoring that mental health underpins overall learning success.
The school has a safeguarding framework with zero tolerance for child abuse. Child safety is embedded in policies, codes of conduct and ongoing education and training, with established procedures to respond to safeguarding concerns and promote a culture of safety for all students.
Online applications are completed through the Online Application Form and your child's name is placed on a waitlist for the year level you request. Applications are accepted online only via the Application for Enrolment page; a non-refundable application fee of $250 applies. Progressing your child's application involves receiving an email asking you to confirm interest as the entry year approaches. An interview with a senior staff member may form part of the offer process. To confirm an offer, families pay a non-refundable enrolment fee of $3,200.
Caulfield Grammar School offers a range of scholarships across entry years and areas of expertise – Academic Excellence, Music, Sport, Theatre, Visual Arts, Dance, General Excellence, Foundation (Humanitarian and Indigenous), and Caulfield Grammarians' Association. Scholarships are open to new or currently enrolled students who are Australian citizens or permanent residents, with part remission of tuition fees from the start through Year 12. All applicants (except Music and Foundation Scholars) are required to sit a scholarship test; shortlisted applicants attend an interview. General Excellence Scholarships require evidence of excellence across multiple fields and include an interview; successful applicants receive tuition fee remission typically between 25% and 75%.
Your child's name is placed on the waitlist for the requested year level after submitting the online application. Position on the waitlist is based on the date of the application, and an application does not guarantee admission. Applications are processed and assigned a waitlist status; offers are made when places become available, sometimes months after initial submission. You can change your preferred year or campus by contacting the Admissions Team; you may transfer between waitlists without paying the application fee again.
