Extra-Curricular Activities

Clubs, activities, and opportunities to explore interests and passions

Academic and Intellectual

Robotics, clay target shooting, fencing, yoga, fitness and art are among Corio Campus Middle School's after-school activities. Debating and public speaking are offered, with the Public Speaking Team competing in main Geelong-area events. Rehearsals for Middle School productions occur in Term 3. Senior School also includes Performing Arts as part of its co-curricular programme and drama productions, providing spaces for critical thinking and teamwork.

Arts and Creative

Drama provides space for self-expression and resilience, from Early Learning to Senior School, including full-scale musical productions. Music offers every student opportunities to engage in a rich, diverse programme and to thrive as musicians. Visual Arts encourages experimentation and hosts exhibitions across year groups. Performing arts also feature within Senior School's co-curricular offerings.

Cultural and Language

We express ourselves confidently and creatively in more than one language. Mandarin is embedded as a specialist language within the Primary Years Programme. Geelong Grammar welcomes overseas students and has a long history of international students, with partnerships such as the Melbourne Schools Partnership International. The School offers the IB Diploma Programme in Years 11-12 alongside VCE, supporting international-minded learning.

Social and Hobbies

The Activities programme after school includes robotics, clay target shooting, fencing, yoga, fitness, art and relaxing board games. Timbertop lists hobbies such as baking, blacksmithing, fly fishing, horse riding, mountain biking and social activities like netball and Netflix. Social clubs and house activities are part of campus life across Corio and Timbertop. These experiences foster friendships and informal interests alongside formal schooling.

Community and Service

Relay for Charity is a popular Year 8 fundraising event coordinated by students. Each house has a community service representative coordinating charitable ventures throughout the year. Service activities take place during the week outside classroom hours and form part of Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme activities.

Leadership and Professional

The Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme is available to all students, with Bronze completed at Timbertop and Silver hiking completed in final Timbertop term. The Geelong Grammar School Public Speaking Team participates in main public speaking competitions in the Geelong area. There are student committees and leadership structures within co-curricular life.

Lifestyle and Wellbeing

Sport is a compulsory activity for students from Years 5 to 12, with summer, winter and spring seasons and interschool competitions. The school operates an on-site equestrian centre, with riding, polo and competition opportunities. The Handbury Centre for Wellbeing supports swimming and other wellness facilities, and Athletics Day is a major calendar event. Sport fosters teamwork, discipline, resilience and a healthy mind, body and spirit.

Year 10 prepares students for the IB Diploma or VCE, with a Chinese language option for second-language learners. Timbertop, the remote Year 9 campus, blends rigorous academics with outdoor education and a dedicated Bunker as a classroom. The school supports a substantial boarding community at Timbertop and Corio, hosting Australia's largest co-educational boarding population. Facilities across campuses include SPACE, an 800-seat performing arts forum and 270-seat studio; Glamorgan Centre science labs; a 25m pool; Equestrian Centre; and a dedicated wellbeing hub. Mandarin is offered as a specialist language within PYP. This supports international-minded learning globally.
